Men's/Coed Softball this summer

I am moving to the Des Moines area in a couple weeks and want to get involved on a softball team. Let me know if any of you need a player. If you are looking for a guy and girl for a coed team, my wife would play as well. Let me know!

The Sands on 63th and Grand has co-ed softball. I know when I played out there teams were always looking for people to fill in, and then they would eventually become full time team members. That is one way to get involved if you don't find a team right off the bat.

Everywhere I've played, teams always need girls but not guys though.

I live in Clive and would like to play as well. Played on both guys and coed in Ames last summer.

That is true, but when I used to play at the Sands I would finish my team's game and end up playing for another team about 50% of the time. Once the season is rolling the beer league teams start to run out of players, men and women.

Re: Men's/Coed Softball this summer

I put together 2 co-rec teams and play on a men's team but we're full. www.urbandalesoftball.com has a link you can either post that you are looking for a team or has others that are looking to get on a team. You're too late for the spring leagues but the summer leagues usually start in late June so the registration is still open for those.

Personally I think the Sands fields suck. I would not slide on those infields and I know one of the fields has a manhole cover in the outfield somewhere! Urbandale is where the most competitive teams usually play but that's where you'll find the bigges a-holes too. West Des Moines probably has the nicest fields but they also are the most expensive in town. All my leagues play in Clive and the fields there are ok. Not as nice as Urbandale or WDM but they still are adequate and there is a good mix of competition and recreation there. Plus you can bring your own beer to the park which is a plus. Can't drink it during the games but most umps there look the other way as long as you drink it outside of the dugout.
