We're looking to get our house sided this spring or summer if the price is reasonable and we need some recommendations of siding companies in the Ames/Ankeny area (we live in Huxley). Any good experiences of local companies?

Let me check once I get to work, but there is always ABC seamless siding.
We have ABC seamless. Schroeder's from Carroll put it on originally about 20 years ago and then did our addition last fall. Looks great and wears well. Lifetime warranty on workmanship. You can't tell where the original ends and the new begins.
I would definitely recommend them.
Anybody but Farm & Home Builders. They had about a 1/3 of one side of the house sided before I had to tell them they were putting up the wrong kind. Then they had to replace two bad windows they had installed and after four calls they finally got it done a month after the promised date.
We were looking into getting our house sided this summer as well, and I was thinking about just getting it at Lowes and putting it up myself with the help of a couple experienced friends. Then I saw that Lowes has a deal to put it up for you and take care of everything for $150. Unfortunately I found out after I called them about it that it's $150 PER 100 SQUARE FEET! I about filled my pants for joy when I thought it was only $150, then I filled them again with anger when I figured out it was going to be a that much. I guess my ugly yellow wood siding will have to do for another year. :sad9cd: Let me know if you find a great deal somewhere though!
I've seen a lot of ads for Hedrick Construction and plan on giving them a call in the morning for a free estimate. I've never heard anything bad about them and I'll let everybody know how responsive they are.
Jeremy, Hedrick did a great job on our roof (only took a day for the whole thing, too) although I can't speak for siding.

May I suggest that before you finalize and sign any contract that you take a moment and do a Better Business Bureau search. LINK
It only takes a few minutes and could potentially save you some headaches. A neighbor of ours had issues with a local roofing contractor and a quick search noted 27 complaints against that company. A quick search would have probably directed our neighbor to a contractor with a better record and a lot less hassle than what they ended up going through. By the way, Hendricks Construction Inc has had only one complaint in the last 36 months and that complaint was resolved.
Side note, when ever I place an order over the internet with a company I've never dealt with I also do a search on them. Better safe than sorry.
