Definitely a little late now, but I just saw on whotv.com that Panchero's in Iowa City had offered Majerus free burritos for the duration of his tenure at Iowa if he had taken the job! Too funny... Not a bad deal either, Panchero's is pretty good, although it's no Chipotle.

If Iowa was going to hire a Horizon coach, perhaps it should have been Wright State's Brad Brownell. While Lickliter may be an excellent coach, Brownell's the best coach in the Horizon league (WSU beat Butler twice this season, btw) ... Brownell's never had a losing season, been to the Dance three times in five years as head coach a two mid-majors, has a ridiculous conference winning % (CAA & Horizon combined), and his overall record is outstanding as well. So Iowa gets a Horizon coach who is not even the best coach in the Horizon. lol
And Iowa fans had better get used to slow basketball. Butler had the 332nd fastest tempo. LINK http://kenpom.com/stats.php?y=2007&s=4
It's kind of interesting that about a year after he is hired, GMAC is now the dean of Iowa's big four MBB programs.
If I was a Hawkeye fan (thank God I'm not) I would be pretty satisfied with this hire. He might not be the "sexiest" guy out there, but I think he's as good as Iowa was going to get.
Hawkeye fans need to learn and realize that Iowa is not a job that other BCS conference coaches would go too. In fact, besides Kentucky, Indiana, North Carolina and the other truly elite programs, most other programs hire their new coaches from the "mid-majors".
But it's Iowa, they're in Iowa City, the greatest town in America; where their $*** don't stink, and the most brilliant minds outside of Einstein reside!Quote:

His style sounds alot like Floyd's and Eustachy's and that probably means alot of success eventually.
This guy may end up being a good hire for Iowa. He certainly had a nice 5-6 year run at Butler (his only collegiate head coaching experience).
However, it is certainly not what the Iowa athletic department and the hawkeye faithful were hoping for...a "big name" coach with a bunch of "skins on the wall". Frankly, most hawkeye fans have heard a lot more about Art Linkletter than Todd Lickliter!
It will be interesting to see how he does. At Butler his team had a very high IQ (and I'm not talking basketball here)...they had several players with very high GPAs and very difficult majors (Actuarial Sciences, etc.). Won't be quite the same in Iowa City.
