It's never too early to start talking NFL draft. Yet with the '07 draft just around the corner, why not really get ahead of ourselves and talk '08 draft?
Plus, it's only fun to get that speculation in before the '07 collegiate season begins. Vote and discuss where you think Bret Meyer will end up in the '08 draft...
3rd or 4th round. I'd have to see a list of all the graduating QBs, and potential early bird junior QBs, but unless he has some sort of breakout year that has him mentioned for the Heisman, or even the best QB award, he's not going to go until late-ish in next year's draft.
Unless he has a really good senior year that puts him on the map I'd be surprised if he gets drafted and at best if he does in one of the last rounds. You have to take off the ISU colored glasses and see that he hasn't been too spectacular in 3 years to get anyone too excited about drafting him.
Bret took a huge step backwards last year while running for his life and throwing the ball out of bounds. He will need a career year to improve his chances to be drafted. Most of the time he looked slow running and couldn't find open receivers. Since then we have learned about the "passing zones" in DM's offense that contributed to his lack of output. I suspect he will quit playing so careful under Coach Chizik and run like he means it, take some hits and take some chances. I think he can do it, but the jury is certainly a long ways out.
