Marty is providing a nice balance to Jon Miller's ludicrous fan boy worship of lickliter today.
He know has ole' Lickliter down to Iowa's fifth choice, since Lowery turned them down, as he says he convinced.
I must say I've found a place for M&M just to get some semblance of balance onto the airwaves.
I'll bet Marty got his information from his dentists sister's cousin's aunt.
I take his info with a very small grain of salt.
Yeah. Marty knows so much about conversations between the EIU and SIU athletic departments all the way out there in Boston. If he yells it loud enough and over and over enough times, he hopes everyone will think it is true.
Now he's the Hawks' sixth choice after Pearl, Lowery, Altman, Crean, and Stallings. Keep digging into hawkfan, ISUfan22 and tube1, Marty! Good job.
It's good to hear M&M are at least injecting a thread of objectivity into this whole mix that apparently Jon Miller started. I missed the show and am glad I did. I E-Mailed Jon and asked "if thats the best they could do, and he lost a awesome coach in Lowery", naturally he beefed up lickliter (sounds like what I tell my wife to do at times) more and more
If he was the first choise then why were they so desperate that they gave him a $1 million raise to come to EIU. That sounds as if they were afraid they might lose everyone on their list. That was 1 million plus incentives for everything from graduation rate to wearing hawkeye pjs to bed. 1.25 million for a coach from the Horizon League? Are they kidding!!
1 million bribe for them to take the job-actual salary was 225k

Jon Miller is a pompus, smug a-hole. He's Dr. Phil for hawkeye fans. Everything is rationalized in his beautiful world of hawkeye athletics. I do not listen to his call in show, but occasionally I've heard his Camelot rendition of iowa hawkeye sports on Deace's show. It's all paved with gold streets. I know I could not handle listening to his two hour hawkeye circle jerk love fest.
