Strength and Conditioning Coach
IMO Ken Sheppard is doing a great job from what I have read. I like his philosophy, ethic, and program. From the sounds of things it sounds like a lot of our players were a little soft. I always wondered why it looked like the other teams were stronger than us in the trenches. I think McGettigan just didn't push our guys enough or have a tough enough routine. I also didn't buy into his long lean muscle development. Didn't make sense to me to have FB players with lean muscles.
In looking at pictures of Bret Meyer that were at practice, he looks like he has really bulked up. And it sounds like Sheppard is really intent on whipping these guys into shape. I look for us to be better on both the lines this next year. I love Sheppard's quote that we will be the toughest team physically and mentally in the Big XII. I also like the early morning workouts. Reminds me of that Bear Bryant film about when he was at Texas A&M. We could surprise some teams. This will be a different Cyclone team that they will face.
Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach
Thanks stormin. I was very impressed with the way Meyer looked as well. Let's hope both Lines will benefit the most from the new toughness.
Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach
I'll give him props once I see the trenches come gametime...when we hold our own or even better start pushing lineman from iowa, nebraska, kansas st, missouri, etc. around the field, then i'll give him props, but it is nice to hear they are pushing the players. I just hope the kids reap the rewards very early in the season in the form of W's so they see what they did all this offseason workouts for.
Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach
Has anybody seen the size of Arnaud??? My god that kid may end up playing linebacker for us if for some reason the whole qb thing don't work out
Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach
Yeah, Arnaud is a beast of a man.
Re: Strength and Conditioning Coach
I saw a pick of Meyer and his arms/forearms have doubled in size since his frosh year. He doesnt look like the same guy. I cant wait to see more pics. Ill be there next Sat. to see em close up.

Champions are built in the off-season. The amount of time, work, and commitment in the off-season is where we will make the biggest gains in these early years of the "Chizik Era"
