The thing is he should have known. Even if you weren't avidly paying attention to Arkansas sports, the whole football fiasco with Mustain and the parents complaining directly to the AD should have told him everything he needed to know about that athletic department.
Who hires a coach 3 months before their AD leaves anyway? The coach won't have any job security with the new AD. It's like Broyles wanted one more coaching search just to pad his ego.
