I don't know too much about Colangelo, but I think I would rather see Mark Cuban (I can't believe I'm saying this) buy the Cubs. He has that 'win now' attitude that the organization needs and he is not afraid to spend money. I don't agree with everything that he does, but look at what he has done with the Mavericks.
The only issue may be that he might scare the thrifty conservative owners with his brashness and may have a hard time busting in to the "good 'ol boy" network.
I'd rather see cuban too, he seems to be willing to spend whatever it takes to win. While Colangelo will probably be more fiscally responsible, although I think he won a ws with the diamondbacks.
Colangelo won a World Series with the D-backs, but he over-paid for several free agents and proceeded in running the team into the red by $200 Million. He ended up selling his interest in the team to a group of investors in 2004.
Personally, I think Cuban would be an incredible owner for the Cubs.
However, Colangelo may get the nod due to his roots as a GM, coach, and owner for several sports franchises. He's also a Chicago native and went to school at the University of Illinois.
FYI...my preference is Cuban!! Not even close. The guy is a players and fans type of owner!!

Look how well that's worked w/ the Yankees lately, however. Buying championships in baseball just doesn't work
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
AT least they get in the playoff every year. I think that's an important first step. And plus the way they spend the money on aging starter and older slugger is not a recipe for success. Although they are starting to do better with their farm system now.
