    Re: football recruiting?

I agree Texas,Florida and a host of other states have more talented players than Iowa however Gene and his assistants must seek out the best Iowa has to offer before the good ones head east to IC. It may only be a handful of players that are "worthy" of the uniform but to dominate the Big 12 and the state we need the top guys in state as well as the Texas and Florida guys

id like to start pulling the worthy prospects out of nebraska while were at it. they got another OL committ this week. that is 2 rivals top 100 OL from nebr they have plus one from iowa. if we can get to the point where we pick and choose local talent along with TX/FL prospects then we will be sitting pretty.

heman-isucy86says""isu has zero football tradition"".i just wonder how in the hell you think iowa state is going to win the big 12 if they don't start getting out of the gate and start recruiting championship talent recruits. if we don't start settting our goals higher for better recruits we will continue to be a bottom feederplaying second fiddle to nebraska, oklahoma, texas,a and m and the rest of the big 12. even fat boy at kansas state will own us.championship football starts with good solid recruiting.recruit the best athlete and start your recruiting early!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your posts just ooze illiteracy, they are next to impossible to read.

If you remember, Chizik said the weeks leading up to signing day, they were focusing on 2008 recruits. So, how is that not "getting out of the gates"? Comparing Iowa State recruiting to Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska is just dumb right now. We don't have the tradition to get the 5 star recruits after talking to them once. As isucy86 said, 35 of AM's recruits are from Texas. They probably didn't have to ask too hard to get them to play close to their families and friends in Texas. We should focus more on in-state recruiting, and out recruiting Iowa in the state, and beating out the other teams in the north before we should worry about trying to out-recruit the nation wide Traditional football schools.

Once we become the premier program in the state, (1-2 yrs.), and then the Big 12 north, (2-3 yrs.), I think ISU will be a pretty easy sell to recruits.

    Re: football recruiting?

current verbals for each school in the big 12:

    baylor-4
    colorado-1
    isu-0
    kansas-0
    kansas state-3
    missouri-5
    nebraska-4
    oklahoma -8
    okie state-3
    texas-18
    texas a and m-18
    texas tech-3

cyclone 62 ,a and m has only 18 verbals to date.i still can't figure how you
know dennis fraudphony has 35 recruits!!!!! unless it is a fact that you can't read.maybe you should invent a word called research and add that word to your vocabulary and do a little bit of it before you spew your
    illiterate syntax.
