In the continuing series entitled "Iowa State Sucks", the Register ran the third installment today:

The "story"

I'm sure this isn't the Register's doing, but the ambiguous "media" term is just a bit flakey. If it is a reputable source making the prediction, why not list it? And of course, Big11Ten predictions are nowhere to be seen, though I'm sure the Sunday Register's front-page will read "Iowa Hawkeyes Given Big Ten Championship For Rest Of Time After Other 10 Teams Admit They're Too Scared To Compete Against Them".

Slow news day, huh?

What?? Seriously man, I'm all for ragging on the Register but are you for real? How much better coverage can you go with that. Out of all the sources I would say that picking us second in the big twelve is on the upswing. Were you expecting them to run an article declaring that we would take the Big XII? I was on board with the "$135 million" article and thought it was even worse with the pathetic journalism integrity of Witoski. But you are way off base even wasting our time reading this post.

And as crummy as this one felt, Cyclone fans, it could be a lot worse. You could be a Hawkeye. - Sean Keeler (imagine that, actually quoting Keeler!)

Obviously I would love for the media to pick us to finish first, but I don't see a negative tilt to this report at all. Save the frustration for when it is actually deserved.

Arrived in STL via Ames, IA & Bloomington, IN!

1 - Big 12 Media Days start Monday

2 - I'm sure that when the Big 10 Media Day's roll around, whenever that may be, The Big 10 Media will release their conference predictions and the Register will have it on the front page of their website, just like they did with the Big 12.

3 - IIRC, the Big 10 media, to spare the agony of the other 8 schools, only releases who they think will finish in the top 3.

4 - I too would love if the ballots of the Big 12 media were made public. sCUm finishing third in the Big 12? Missery 5th? If that were to happen, Pinkel might as well order a moving truck now.

To further put an end to your Oliver Stone conspiracy theroy that the Register is out to screw Iowa State, here's a link to the Big 12 Press Release announcing the media's preseason poll

Complaing about stories like this discredit our points when we do have a legitiment problem with the type of storys that ran last Sunday. They simply reported the facts today, like they should every day.

The article is also breaking news on cyclones.com and on the big 12 website. This is an article that make the DM REG. year after year, and I was pleased to see it.

Bad example!

This just means the Nebraska game is the must win game of the season.

And to get everyone started some more, Colin Cowherd is predicting Squakeyes to beat Michigan this year as one of his upset specials.

Until we win a big bowl game like Iowa has done, we will be the also-rans in the state.

And poor UNI, which finished second in their group, gets no rag press at all.

The Register must have more paid subscriptions in Eastern Iowa than Western Iowa.

Time for a Nancy Clark comment.

GOAL: MUST WIN BIG 12 NORTH.

You are right on dude. This sucks. ISU is usually picked lower, and Mac has used that as motivation in the past. The Register is really out to get us! With the Clones getting some respect, how will Mac be able to put this to good use? Boycott the Register! Fire Mac!
