Pacman Jones suspended for season

I just read that Pacman is suspended for the season, and Chris Henry is suspended for the first 8 games. Pretty stiff punishment, new commish trying to make a statement!

This is kind of funny. The NFL has a league full of hoodlums and nobody really gives a darn. But now that some of the hoods are getting spanked, I imagine there will be all sorts of gnashing of teeth. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jackson may even pay a call on the commish.

Good to see this! Too many thugs in pro sports anymore and I think if you are getting paid millions and glorified to play a sport that you are not above the law and you should be held to a high standard of behavior. Hasn't he been a part of like 10 police incidents in 2 years or something like that? You'd think eventually he'd figure out that he needs to find a new crowd to hang out with. But sometimes you just can't take the ghetto out of someone no matter how hard you try I guess...

Its not hard to obey the law....seriously, it really isn't that hard. I'm glad they got punishments...last I checked they were still citizens.

I'm not trying to stick up for the guy, but this seems harsh to me as he hasn't ever been convicted of anything. They need to have some set criteria, not just ban people outright.

Like there aren't tons of college and ex-college football players out there who aren't worthy enough to play in the NFL and don't have a rap sheet. The NFL (or any sport) doesn't 'need' players who can't stay out of trouble. There are plenty of others waiting to take your spot who can do handle the job just fine too.

And the NBA hasn't handed out strict punishments before? They really get a bad rap compared to other leagues, especially the NFL. If guys fight in the NFL, it's just part of the game. If they fight in the NBA it's black guys gone crazy.

Football is a physical sport, just like hockey....fights are okay. In a sport where excessive touching is a foul, you can't have full-on brawls.

That would be like a giant golf fight...and you don't see that happening.
