Former Cyclones.. hobbs & wallace
Little tid bits i found at sportingnews
Third-year CB Ellis Hobbs really came on in the postseason. Hobbs played so well, it's easy to forget that he was taking the field with a broken left wrist. The injury only sidelined him for a week during the season, but it affected him all year. Like LB Tedy Bruschi, Hobbs broke the scaphoid, a peanut-sized bone in the wrist that is crucial for gripping, grabbing and, hence, tackling. Hobbs wore a brace all year following the Sept. 24 injury. The surgery didn't do the job, however, and Hobbs had a screw implanted after the AFC title game. He should be ready to go for minicamp. Though he's undersized (5-8), Hobbs makes up for it with excellent ball skills and superb finishing instincts. One of his specialties is tearing a seemingly completed pass out of a receiver's hands before it can officially be ruled a catch. . . .
Speaking of Hasselbeck, although he remains ahead of schedule in his recovery from having a torn labrum repaired in his non-throwing shoulder, don't expect him to play in the Seahawks' preseason opener against the Chargers in San Diego. Coach Mike Holmgren was leaning toward holding Hasselbeck out of the opener anyway. With the opponent being the Chargers, you can count on it. Besides, backup Seneca Wallace and No. 3 QB David Greene need to play this summer. Wallace must continue his progression, which was shoved into high gear last season when he had to start four games while Hasselbeck was out with a sprained right knee. Greene must show he can grasp the nuances of the passing game, something he didn't display in his first two seasons. . . . It's not that the coaches are dissatisfied with Wallace as the backup, it's that they want another QB capable of running the offense should Hasselbeck get injured. That luxury would allow them to unleash Wallace's impressive arsenal of athletic ability as a situational receiver, runner and returner. With only Wallace and an untested Greene, the team can't afford to have Wallace get injured.
