He was good until Iowa fans decided they did not want him after he ask for his release. At that point the Iowa fans decided that Licklighter was a coach that stressed ball control and lock down defense. Even though Iowa fans have never seen Gary play. They all know that gary did not like coaches who want him to handle the ball and play defense. Gary as it turns out after he ask for his release from Iowa was a ball hog, no handles, bad shot, who could not play defense. So now the Hawk fans are concentrating on getting a kid to commit that is also being recruited by Princeton and St. Louis. They know Licklighter likes smart players. Princeton and St. Louis may not be powerhouse basketball teams but Iowa is still going to get a "hidden gem".
Actually I think there were concerns that the kid wasn't even going to qualify academically; he probably would have been one of many that Alford "brought in" that never made it there. And Alford had been recruiting the PG that's down to them and StL and Princeton. He might be a hidden gem and will probably fit in better to the new coach's system than Alford's--low turnovers, assist man and very heady.

From everything i've read/heard Gary was never going to qualify, Peterson is rated just as high as Gary though. Both are 3 stars.

I read this same thing on the Rag. I was close to commenting but decided against it later.
