It wasn't that great but then again we have never been ranked high and we have progressively gotten better. If you look at Iowa, they are recently being ranked in the top 5 but never end the season as high as their so-called ranking. I don't give it too much credit since they are just projecting where you rank for players that have never taken the field. It's really a score of how many so-called 3, 4, and 5 star players you got but yet those star rankings are so much BS it makes the whole system flawed.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

Austin Arnaud was orginally like a 4 or 5 star recruit then once he signed with ISU he dropped to either a 2 or 3 I think. ISU doesn't get much credibility on the recruiting scene. If someone signs with us all the sudden they aren't so good for some reason.

Austin Arnaud looked like he was on a different level of playing field that the rest of the kids playing in the Shine game and the kid from c.r. kenn. is huge (260) and can move great. the running back from Valley lookedvery fast but small for big 12 runnning back.
I can see all of these guy playing in a year or two.

Two years ago, they had a Top 10 national class, and finished 8th in the polls. But typically, Iowa has been 20 to 40 in national recruiting rankings under Ferentz...closer to 40th than 20th most of those years.

I think he was referring more to just a team preseason ranking...at least that's how I took it.

I hate those ranking systems. I think the bottom line is how well the kids are coached and how productive they are on the field. The Cyclone coaching staff does a very good job of winning with so-called lesser recruits.
