Tim Floyd has signed Lil Romeo, son of Master P to play basketball at USC. He is supposedly a good player, he was a standout point guard at the prestigious ABCD camp, and averaged 14ppg and 6assists at Beverly Hills high. Considering Master P is worth around 100 million dollars I am sure the USC players hanging out with Romeo will be balling! I think we should go after Steve Perry's kid. I don't know what sport it would be for though. I'd just love to "accidentally" run into Steve Perry at an ISU game. After a loss, he could croon "when the lights...go down...in the city..." and we'd all join hands, singing along, and the problems of the world would disappear....

If we can't get Steve Perry's kid we should go after his replacement, Steve Augeri's boy. The kid's got game and can pull it off with big hair and tight leather pants. Another great option would be Jonathan Cain's son. He is revamping his musical career alongside Mica Roberts (who?). Who knew the guy could do even more than rock out on the keyboard and pound the craps tables at the casinos that Journey's reunion tours made stops at? Apparently his son and niece are golfers...what are we waiting for Coaches Horton and Martens?? Get these rockers on the ringer!

I lost a lot of respect for Floyd after I read the NY Times article of how OJ Mayo recruited him. I dont have it to link but I think Timmy sold his sole to the devil on this one. If anyone has the link to post again, It's a great read, but it doesn't show Floyd too well in my humble opinion.

I read it and think it was the most overhyped story I have read in some time. Even if the story is 100% accurate, which who really knows, once he comes to school and joins the team, there is no question who will be in charge. Floyd can simply bench him and he would lose millions as his draft stock falls. Its a totally overblown and stupid story.

How could you lose respect for him? How could any coach in his right mind turn down the #1 recruit in basketball if he came knocking at your door? Would you lose respect for GMac if OJ called coach and said I want to play at ISU and he signed him?

I doubt that McD would let some guy come in as a "handler" and broker a deal for a kid to come to ISU, then refuse to give out the player's phone number because "he'll call you", then have the kid bring a documentary crew to campus when he visits and tell the coach that "I'll finish your recruiting for you".
Maybe I'm too old school, but as my daughter's generation says "that's how I roll"

| Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." |
