Nebraska and Kansas State speed

Just looking at Rivals and saw that Nebraska has got 12 guys coming in that run a 4.5 or faster. And KSU has 15 guys running a 4.55 or faster. WE've got 6 or 7.

Do you guys think this is gonna be a problem? I know we're gonna have speed in a lot of skilled positions, and our line is a little smaller than previous years but I'd like to see us recruit a little more speed everywhere else.

Gee, I don't know... Neb and KState have seemingly always been bigger and faster than ISU, and was that a problem? I don't think they rolled up 50, 60 or even 70+ points on the Clones by being collectively slower or weaker! .....I guess looking at the all time records vs. these and other conference foes tells the answer. Even though ISU may be slower or smaller etc... I'm hoping that the new attitude the coaching staff is trying to sell to the team will help them overcome size/speed deficiencies. I'm pretty sure in future GC recruiting classes, there will be a lot of speed.

K-State signed 32 guys this year where we only signed 25. Also, out emphasis this class was on the O-Line and D-Line, where it is rare to see a sub 4.5 forty. The skill position players we did get have speed as well as many already in our system. If Bibbs comes in and takes over at MLB, our entire starting lineup other than the O-Line and D-Line, and TE run sub 4.55 forties, according to their forty times when they were recruited.

While 40 times are a good indicator, I'll take game speed over 40 speed any day. I'd rather be fast on gameday than be fast on paper...

Neb. and KSU also had coaches with a full recruiting cycle, especially Neb. Gene put his class together in a much shorter time.

I'll take guys on Defense that can run fast laterally over north and south speed.

Yes it will be a problem. Just like it has for the last 100 years at Iowa State. Until we recruit faster players it will be a problem.

well... Allen Bell runs a 4.26 hand time
and Wallace Franklin told me that his hand time is 4.24 and electric 4.35

we are getting there, but 40 time isnt everything.. except wheen poor RJ was about to score in nebraska for us

If those two times are accurate, and i'm not saying your a liar. We have the two fastest players in D1 football. Hands down the two fastest players in college football. With that speed they will be in the NFL.

i dont know Allens Digital time, but Wallace Franklin is pretty set on his Digital 4.35 and hand timed 4.24...and he looks just that fast in his videos, when he burns someone deep he calls it "mossing" the defense hes alot like randy moss i guess.. i think the attitiude may be included, but oh well.. its a winning one

Well i am excited because having that speed is such a weapon. Hopefully those two can return kicks and do damn near everything. You can tell Gene is recruiting speed more then MAC did, expect our next class to have more burners.
