No. Feel free to correct me if anyone thinks I'm being overly biased, but if Iowa gets to .500 in the conference, I think it says more about the quality of the conference than the team. They do not have the personnel.

Yes, I do. I don't think they would finish .500 even with him. That's why I said I would bet any amount of money they wouldn't hit .500 without him. I think 5 or 6 Big 10 wins without him tops.
Re: EIU's Tyler Smith May be Leaving....
Honestly thinking/expecting Iowa to get to .500 in the conference this season would be like expecting ISU to achieve the same thing this past season. The personnel just isn't and wasn't there.
Toss in learning a new system and that spells losses.
Re: EIU's Tyler Smith May be Leaving....
Losing Smith is not the end of the world. We lost our fair share last year but everyone pulled together on the team and we had a respectable season for the amount of new players we had thanks to Mac and staff. I expect Lickliter and staff to do the same. Besides Lickliter will be putting in a new offense and defense that may better fit the players he has.

Granted, he led the conference in scoring because Iowa only had two scorers, but still. He became a much better player under Alford.
Pretend he wouldn't have transferred. We would have been pretty good with Stinson, Blalock, Haluska, and Homan on that NCAA tourney team a few years ago. Morgan probably wouldn't have lost his job.
Do you think Haluska is projected to be drafted if he plays the last three years of his collegiate career under Wayne Morgan?
We'll never know, because he didn't stick around. Would he have gotten better by his senior year at ISU? Yes I think he would have. Actually the trends were very similar at the two schools and Adam would have been in a very similar situation his senior year at ISU to what he got at Iowa.
Like I said before Alford does get some credit from me on this, but I'm giving Adam some credit too.

With all the talent on teams like OSU (some extremely impressive classes), good recruits on MSU, UW, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, UM, and starting to be on Iowa, who knows.
But this is a good point - if the BigTen is as strong as some say it is going to be next year, then it could be a long year for Iowa. This is a very good point.
Sorry, the Big 11 did NOT send three teams to the Final Four in 2005. They sent two...Illinois and MSU, along with NC (winner) and Louisville.
As for losing Smith, I think that pretty much ends iowa's hopes of a decent season. They will be lucky to win as many conference games as ISU did last year.

Haluska would have been a senior the season before if he didn't transfer. He would have had Stinson and Blalock throughout the last three years of his collegiate career. I don't think the trends mirror each other at all.
I understand that Alford did a poor job overall. But let's not act like he did absolutely nothing.

anyone see Tennessee's Recruits for the next couple years? you can bet if Pearl has a shot at him, he'll go after him hard.

Also, there are some other shooters that he's recruiting right now. While they may not be Tyler Smith's, I'd compare Peterson to a better Jeff Horner (an impact on the team right off the bat).
We'll see, but I wouldn't say this is a huge hit for the Iowa program.
Yeah, Lickit lighter scored a major coup getting a player from two schools without a head coach. Dang, and you think he is made of steel too? He is not, I repeat not a better Horner. I wonder if he cried like a baby when he lost his last high school game. Jeffy wailed like a baby after Ankeny beat them....that was sweet to watch.
Get some balls and just admit you guys will really suck for the next couple years.

That's cool. You like watching guys cry after they lose games, takes a big man to admit that.
Re: EIU's Tyler Smith May be Leaving....
It's not like Hawks aren't still giving us crap about Paul Shirley, get off your high horse.
Re: EIU's Tyler Smith May be Leaving....
Southern Sqawk - The topic is Iowa Basketball and how you are disillusioned about their season next year. That was 10 conference wins without Smith right?
That is as bad as the Sqawks that are talking about how Looby, Tate and Angle will become greatly improved players under Lickitlighter.
So, if you can't stick the topic, just stick it and go back to your own board with the rest of your ***sucking fans.

The point is, Horner and company (especially daddy) thought they were a lock for the state championship. They even made reservations for the entire tourney, but got beat the first game.
