Jack Trice Capacity?
I know a while ago, they were talking about putting in more seeting at Jack Trice. What's going on with this? I think it would be pretty cool to see Jack Trice at about 60,00 - but I can see waiting a bit to make sure there are going to be enough fans to fill the stadium every once in a while.

Re: Jack Trice Capacity?
I'm probably not as knowledgeable as others on this topic, but I believe the current capacity of Jack Trice is somewhere around 46,000. I also believe the proposed additions will only tack on a few thousand more (about 3 or 4) since they will result in the removal of some hillside seats. Overall, Trice will look a lot more like a "big time" stadium if the plans all go through.

55,518 for UNI. I believe that record will be broken for UNI again this year. Maybe even a full capacity.

Re: Jack Trice Capacity?
Its something like 42,500 with the sides. Then about 3500 in the south endzone. So its around 45,000. Then you add the hills.
My personal feeling on this is that People won't ever look at Jack Trice as a real stadium until we get that west Side suites built to make it look more modern.
-Until we bowl it in
-Get either one more screen or a bigger video board.
-The concessions and restroom areas are very MAC looking. Need updates
-Until we get a capacity of around 60K and fill it more than once a year.
-Until we actually beat some teams like Texas and Oklahoma.
If all that happens, all the sudden its a hell of a lot easier to recruit to ISU.
Good thing Jamie Pollard is behind the wheel. Just My Opinion though.

I haven't been to a game at JTS in a few years, but from what I can tell on TV or radio (via internet) and from commentary by Ben Bruns etc... one more point is, the crowd has to be as feverish as they are in Hilton. It sounded to me like in the '05 season the Baylor game was like the libary on friday night. The crowd can't get down when something goes wrong, they need to cheer louder. Autzen stadium at Oregon didn't hold much more than JTS did before their expansion, but it has been noted as one of the toughest places to play in the country for years.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. From the middle of the student section, you can't hear a damn thing every game, the people around me are so loud. Wish the rest of the stadium (and I know those of you here that are students cheer loudly) would follow suit. Also its hard for the crowd to get into it when it seems like the louder we get, the more likely the team will screw up, ie any 3rd and long and were on defense, you just KNOW if the place is going nuts the other team will get a 1st down.

They came up big vs. CU in '05 with big play Curvey. Hopefully with a new coaching regime, tackling and positioning will be improved.
Another aspect of the expected or hoped-for capacities... the biggest crowds mentioned vs. UNI, Nebr., and Iowa usually have several thousand fans of the opponents in the stands. It would be nice if there were consistently 55k+ ISU fans and just a small spattering of opponents fans. But hey, I understand if ISU jacks up the ticket prices for those games, it can help fund stadium improvements, which will hopefully attract more ISU fans and keep the enemy out. Esp. NU, I hate it when they flood opponents stadiums!! GRRRR!

Re: Jack Trice Capacity?
One of the problems that JP is fixing is the seat distribution. Faculty has had the premo 50 yard line seats. Many of them don't come and seats get sold to the enemy. It should be a partisian crowd there, but it ends up very quiet. That will change after this season.
