Over 92,000 attend Bama spring game
I'm impressed. They really do like their football in the south. ESPN.com - NCF - Over 92,000 see Saban in Bama spring game -

That is pretty cool. The funny thing is that they haven't been THAT much of a better program than us the last couple years. Of course we all know we should have beat them a few years ago.
Remember that stressed spelled backwards is desserts!

I was at the game, and I still can't believe we didn't win. We dominated in all phases of the game. Well... except for special teams...
I knew several people with end zone seats who swear Yelk's last-second FG was good. But the way he was spraying kicks everywhere but in between the uprights earlier in the game, I suppose I can't fault the officials for assuming that his final attempt would be no good, too.
I met some of the worst, most obnoxious fans ever among the Alabama contingent during and following the game. Several hours after the game had ended, I was playing blackjack at one of the casinos in Bossier City when a 'Bama fan walked up to our table and interrupted the game just to taunt me. Classy. I have had no use for Alabama or its fans ever since.

If their coach doesn't win 10 games every year, or isn't named Bear Bryant, they will run that poor guy out of town.
Chizik was actually a favorite for the 'Bama job when Shula was fired in the off-season until he took the job here. Pretty smart of him, too. I can't imagine coaching under such unrealistic expectations.

As we discussed quite extensively, the majority on CF feel this should be referred to only as the "Last Meaningless Spring Practice", not the Spring Game!
I think in Alabama it is OK to call it the Spring Game, though.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE. -

I think in Alabama it is OK to call it the Spring Game, though. Each school is limited to 15 days of practice. With a new coach, Gene decided to use the last day as another very needed day of evaluation.
"meaningless practice" would have been if we had a game and split the teams up.
To be called a game you would have offense and defensive players on each sideline and kept score the way it normally is.
As you stated before you weren't there. I drove six hours round trip and enjoyed it.

I can't imagine coaching under such unrealistic expectations. Yes, the Bama fans are quite obnoxious. However, they have high expectations because of Bear Bryant...he was 232-46-9 at Bama in 25 years. He won more than 10 games 12 of those years (and you need to remember back then the schedule was a 10 or 11 game schedule...not 13 like today).
Actually, Chizik was not really a serious candidate. Once Rich Rodriguez jilted them, they pretty much focused on Saban (actually had to wait for the Dolphins' season to end).
Saban should remember the following..."to whom much is given, much is expected". With the contract Bama gave him the are expecting immediate success (which they should). The 92,000+ just showed up to make sure he knew they are watching! Football is religion down here in the South! Frankly, I don't think that Bama fans have unrealistic expectations.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
