I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
Just a hunch but it appears as thought it will be a 5-7 game suspension. If he were going to be gone I think it would have already happened. Also no new recruiting is taking place with JC guards or Freshman comming in. So I am pretty confident that unless Mike Taylor messes up again. We will see him dribbling the ball off his leg next year. War Taylor
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
It has been noted that the staff is going to wait for his grades to come through before making any decisions. Therefore, it will likely be mid-May before we hear anything.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
I'd rather see some of the freshmen dribble it off their leg and learn, than have Taylor doing it to finish his career here.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
Plus, his trial for the Feb. 4th incident isn't until June 7th. So it could even be sometime after that.
Ick.

BINGO...I bet GMAC is waiting until the court system plays itself out. If the charges are dropped or he ends up being innocent, then it would be pretty harsh to kick a guy off the team for petty shop lifting.
Side Note - He's still iddiot for getting in trouble as much as he has!!!!

I'd like to see him dribble off someone's head.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
If he stays (or is allowed to stay), I hope someone is doing some dribbling off his head so it get's through...Don't Do Stupid Stuff. :angry6wn:

Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
Personally, i think it is time to part ways with Taylor. Yes, use him as an example of what happens when you do stupid things. Maybe GMac needs to talk to Mean Gene and have a standard 1 strike policy.
Or they could use that BS about discipline within the family crap that Captain Kirk uses.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
If he's found not guilty on June 7th, then I think he stays with some reasonable discipline. If he's guilty, I think McDermott will feel obligated to part ways.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
He'll probably plead it down to something lesser and be guilty of something. So then what do you do?
I was all for cutting Mike slack after the first foul-up. Now I just want to see him hit the road and let the frosh take over next year with a clean slate.
Re: I don't think Mike Taylor is going anywhere
Guilty is guilty. That's two strikes since he's been in Ames, and 1 after he was recruited, but before he got here. I'm not a huge baseball fan, but I know that three strikes gets you out (the door in this case).
I'm pretty sure that Greg won't try to fill the scholly this year. He'll bank it for a more reliable '08 prospect. If Taylor leaves, look how many late recruits last. One left from last year.
Can you allow a player to come back, but take him off scholarship? I've often wondered why that wouldn't be implemented as a very stern punishment, but not completely dismissing a kid.

In Mike's case, removing his scholarship would yield the same result as kicking him off the team. He just wouldn't be able to afford to continue being an ISU student.

Considering he had to steal an $11 bottle of cough medicine I'll assume you are correct. :)
