I was reading an article in an old Sports Illustrated while taking a dump today and I ran across a funny article about former Twins outfielder Marty Cordova and a freak injury he had a couple years ago. He was actually put on the 15 day DL for burning his face from falling asleep in a tanning bed. I wonder how much crap he caught in the clubhouse for that.

I could have gone without knowing you read the article while taking a dump.

You could tell pretty easily who had drank a little too much the night before. They would be sweating like a pig and look like death warmed over, and you could almost always start the timer on when they would run outside and puke their guts out. Not many of them did that twice.

I recall some years ago the Washington Redskins were playing and Gus Frerotte was the QB. He scores a touchdown. He spikes the ball. Then he runs past the endzone to the concrete barrier on the sidelines and headbutts the wall in celebration. He jams his neck, goes to the hospital and misses the last half and eventually overtime of the game.
It was pretty funny I thoght.

Wasn't Sammy Sosa on the DL for a few years back for hurting his back during a violent sneeze?

I remember watching a NFL game when the kicker (he and his brother were both kickers in the league) started celebrating a field goal and landed on his knee wrong, injuring himself and I think missed quite of few games. I just remember watching him jump up to celebrate (which was excessive for a kicker), land, and immediately grab his knee.

Wresting around with a friend after the ISU-Oklahoma game in '03.
I was doing a single leg maneuver and lifted it very hard just as he was picking it up to move. Well...the weird angle and force placed his knee right in my groin.
20 minutes later I was waiting in the ER in Ames, as my pills had swelled to the size of a softball.
No damage done other than a hard shot to the pills, plenty of bruising/swelling that took a week or so to go away.
A kick in the nuts during and after that game - one figurative, one literal. Yikes.

Let's see, I did something once...
Our HS football team was doing a QB sack drill, and I was going against the biggest guy on the team. I actually get enough leverage on him to have just enough light to "arm-tackle" the tackling dummy. Only thing was, the dummy was "Big Bertha," the 5-5 75-lb big-*** tackling dummy. I hit her with the crook of my arm, you know, the opposite side of the elbow, and my shoulder popped right out. I was the last one to do the drill. So I'm just lying there on the ground with my shoulder out of socket while everyone goes to the next drill. It wasn't for another minute or two until the realized I was still on the ground and in pain. Anytime for the next two years we did a tackling drill, the comment to me was, "don't get hurt tackling Big Bertha, Jason!"
