It's too bad they don't give the alumni clubs a more accurate name, like "Nebraska Natives who Had Enough Sense to Leave their Cesspool of a Homestate and Move to (insert state name here) but who Still Root for Nebraska Because It's a Genetic Condition." I guess that would be hard to fit on license plate holders, though....
South West Iowa for the Huskers is like Eastern Iowa for the Hawkeyes. I've lived in both areas and the local media gives both teams 75% of the coverage and ISU gets 25%.
Maybe someday it will change for ISU, but we need to win some games and put more fans in the seats.
Yeah, I grew up in Atlantic, and Omaha stations always came in better (this was before cable people). Also, it kind of paid off to find out what weather was heading your way too. Still hate Nebraska, though a couple of years ago, they were too pitiful to really hate in a good way.
Hw will have tons of competition as Huskers have recruited 11 offensive lineman in the last two years. He may be on the bench for awhile whereas at Ames he could start as a freshman....

Maybe so -- but Scout only has him as the 31st best prospect in the Midwest. If he squeaks into the national top 100 it will be in the 90's at best -- and I personally don't think that is going to happen.
Guess we will have to see. He is a huge physical person and is already committed to Neb. Those two things alone are going to get him raise his rankings.
I would agree, he is no big loss. I seen him play in last year's playoffs against their loss to Le Mars. Besides his size, he was not impressive at all. Did a lot of standing up and did not move people as would expect him to. You really can't attribute that to poor coaching coming from a school with such tradition as Harlan has.
:wink0st:WATCH IT BUSTER!!! Just like east of I-35, most are eiu fans, NOT. The media plays a big role. I grew up watching 3 Omaha tv stations (no such thing as cable). We were force fed Husker crap, I actually could not wait, as a kid until the Des Moines paper would come so I could read something about my home state. My parents, who are in there 80s, as well as other kool aid drinkers in this area, will still discuss Omaha and Nebraska politics!!!!!!! The news paper out of Omaha has an Iowa edition, I could get local high school results from the Drake Relays online, I got tired of looking for results in the RAG. Peace and GO STATE
We should look at his "little brother". He is the real deal. I believe at this time he will be well known as a junior and sought after as a senior. He will be a soph at Harlan next year. He dominated teams as a linebacker on the freshman team last year.
Barring injury, he will easily be a top 100 recruit.
Unlike here, when you commit to Neb. your stars usually go up.
Not to take anything away from Hoch. He's a good player.
