Hoch goes out of state
Too bad we missed out on this kid. I think he is a top 50 recruit in '08. I'm just guessing that his family are a bunch of Husker fans. Dan Hoch - Football Recruiting -
Re: Hoch goes out of state
He committed to Nebraska months ago.

Re: Hoch goes out of state
I hate the way that it seems like half the people in western Iowa are Nebraska fans. Bunch of bandwagon jumping wannabes with no loyalty to their home state... -
Re: Hoch goes out of state
yeah but there are those of us in eastern nebraska that HATE the huskers!

Re: Hoch goes out of state
The kid's a mercenary. His family was living in Mount Pleasant, and his dad apparently had a job where he could live anywhere in Iowa, and they chose Harlan because of all of the sports success they have had over the years. Strictly front-runners.

Re: Hoch goes out of state
it doesn't help that W. Iowa gets the Omaha TV stations for their news.... probably brain-washes them for the get-go. Oh well, we've had some pretty solid Nebraska kids play at ISU, so if an Iowan gets away every now and then to the evil empire, so be it.
I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. True, but it seems like we're usually grabbing NU's leftovers from Omaha, whereas the Huskers always seem to lure one or two of our best recruits to Lincoln. I don't fault a kid for going to school wherever he wants to go, I'm just looking forward to the day that Chizik gets the Iowa State program to the point where western Iowa kids say no to Nebraska so they can play for their home-state Cyclones.

Glad to see that you are part of the "right" half of the population. Still, I know people from places like Shenandoah, Rock Rapids, Denison, and Sioux City who are Nebraska fans. Some of them even went to Iowa State and never "converted."

Re: Hoch goes out of state
I lived in SW Iowa for awhile and the Husker fans down their have no idea who is even on the team. They just buy the clothes at wal mart and then the only thing they have to say is we were national champions.
I always said "exactly. you WERE national champions. nice tooth by the way, *******."

I always said "exactly. you WERE national champions. nice tooth by the way, *******." Like I said... bandwagon jumping wannabes. I love the way they refer to the Huskers as "we." What's your connection to the University of Nebraska? Oh, right! The $7.99 you spent on that cotton/poly blend t-shirt!

Originally Posted by cys_av8r How is that different than 80% of Suckeye fans? You can definitely draw some valid comparisons between the two. I guess my biggest beef is with Iowa natives who bandwagon-jump on teams from out of state. At least the Hawkeyes' legion of "t-shirt" alumni are rooting for a school from their home state. The disloyalty to one's home state is the thing that bugs me the most.

Re: Hoch goes out of state
it was rather ridiculous trying to live in western Neb. and putting up with husker fans out there. These people acted like a trip to lincoln or omaha was like going to the new york, london or even the moon. Most thought U of kN served as the pro sports team of the state but also had Ivy-League caliber academics. But of course they didn't want to spend too much time in "liberal" Lincoln after the game. They might actually see a person of color or an ethnic restaurant. I think what annoys me the most about Nebraska's alumni association is that all of the out-of-state chapters say, for example, "Iowans for Nebraska" or "southern Californians for Nebraska" ... jeezus, talk about an inferiority complex! they try to sound like there are just thousands of random Anaheim residents rooting for nebraska. Riiiight.
