I think the Billikens are cheating. I'm convinced that someone wrote a ****** to automatically vote and has left their computer on for the last 24+ hours so that they could "stuff the ballot box." I realize that this may sound like sour grapes, but is there a way to complain to CBS Sportsline?
Considering we have been asking fellow CF member to write a ****** to do the same thing for us, I don't think we have any reason to complain. Sure I want us to win and I'm voting like mad, you must realize that both sides are voting in the same manor.

Thanks for the tip! I don't understand how our poll has increased about 1,000 in the last hour, while the Cal and Iowa poll has only increased about 20 votes! Something isn't kosher!

There were people joking about writing a ******, but I didn't take it seriously. And I don't think SLU is voting in the same manner as us, b/c I've been keeping an eye on the voting the whole week. There was a spike in Cyclone voting after the announcement was posted on this board. A few votes trickled in late Tuesday and Yesterday. Then, starting last night, the vote totals started increasing extremely quickly, but methodically. It's not a pattern that looks like one side voting in bunches. Like I said, it looks like someone wrote a ****** to auto-vote and has left their computer on for the last 24+ hours. Yeah, I may be a sore loser, but we can't let that disgusting little troll (and a school with an alumni base that's a fraction of the size of ISU's) beat us!

Sorry, but I've said it before... that doesn't work! You gotta go to a new computer, or get a new IP adress or something!

Exactly. At least when we cheat by voting multiple times, we do it fair and square.

It's very obviously a big group of people voting against us at this point. Really crappy.

Do you know that for certain? How do you know they're tracking IP addresses? I'm pretty sure you can vote multiple times, b/c I voted a bunch of times in the wee hours of the morning, when few if any other people would be awake, and when I hit "refresh," the vote total had increased by exactly the same number of times that I'd voted.

You'll have to tell me what you did, because whenever I've tried to delete cookies and re-vote, the vote count never increased

Yeah, and we all know perfectly well who that big group is...

Yep.

We're about 545 votes behind, give or take some. Things are looking bleak for this one.

If it's a very large group of people voting against us, they've been doing it consistently, steadily, since late yesterday afternoon or evening, and they continued the steady voting every moment of last night/early this morning. Something's fishy, I tell you. This is not just an organized "get out the vote" kind of effort.

Tell us exactly what you did when you were multiple voting earlier... perhaps I can try to duplicate it.

It takes a little while to update. I think their vote counter refreshes about every 5-10 minutes or so. I voted around 3 in the morning the other night (don't ask me why I was up). I don't remember the exact vote totals at that point, but for purposes of this story, we'll say it was 9200. I voted 107 times (I counted). I then hit "refresh." The vote totals didn't change. I surfed the net for a few minutes, then I hit "refresh" again. The vote total then registered 9307. So, I'm pretty sure they're not blocking IP addresses once they've voted. The only thing that keeps you from voting again is the cookie they try to put on your browser.

Here's what I've been doing. I'm using IE right now, but if someone is using Firefox, let me know, and I will post instructions for that, too.

Open your browser, go to tools, internet options, browsing history. Clear the cookies out of your system. Then go to Privacy, and set your privacy setting at "block all cookies." Hit refresh, then vote away. And vote often! We're in real trouble here!

(Is it just me, or does that emoticon look a little like the Billiken?)
