--Actually, Bobby Johnson has been the coach at Vanderbilt since 2002. He has done a pretty decent job with the program. They have much more rigorous academic standards than most other SEC schools with a much smaller athletic budget and they have been fairly competitive the last couple of years.

By "much more rigorous," do you mean that they actually HAVE academic standards??? Well, I guess every conference needs ONE.

Funny he mentions interviewing Rod Woodson in college in his bio. That must have been riveting. If that were me, I'd print a t-shirt with that fact on it and wear it every day.

ALL I want to know is if that DANDY* coach at Colorado is ranked ahead of Chizik.

If Hawkins is ranked ahead of Chizik we could be in a heap of trouble, in a heap of hog manure or something of that nature.

I'm not sure I understand your point. Hawkins did a pretty good job at Boise State prior to CU...so good, in fact, that some on this site want us to try and emulate BSU and become "the Boise State of the midwest". He was 53-11 in 5 years at BSU. Frankly, at this point in their careers, I would rank Hawkins ahead of Chizik. However, I do believe that Chizik will rapidly prove that he is a great coach in the Bob Stoops mold.

That was the biggest joke of a list i've ever wasted time reading...What the hell are the prerequisites to being a *multiple coughs* "sportswriter?? That isn't even sportswriting...thats just REALLY bad/biased opinions...I don't even care about where he put Chizik...its dumb to even judge coaches who haven't coached a game yet against others...the rest of that list is just SO ******** its beyond measure...Mike and Mike in the Morning would put these idiots in their place.

Let's assume for a second that this poll was actually a legitimate exercise (which it is not) and not some blog-rate vomit from a wannabe journalist (which it is)...

Any coach, whether he's at Florida or Duke or Iowa State or Boise State shouldn't even be ranked if he hasn't coached a game yet. Worthless.

Did any of you ever know a journalism major in college who went on to become a "sports journalist"? The ones I knew weren't exactly the Edward R. Murrow's of the journalism department.

I think that the only absolute requirement for the job of "sports journalist" is that your mouth be bigger than, and easily disengaged from, your brain.
