Best and Worst sportswriters and sportscasters

With The Sporting News writer Tom Dienhart seeming to have a grudge against Chizik. I wanted to see who people thought is the best and worst sportswriters and sportscasters.

What ever happened to Roy Firestone? Also I would have to say that idiot from CBS sportsline. I think his name is Greg Doyle. I can read about the first paragraph before I am utterly confused as to how he has a job.

I always used to read Rick Reilly's writing in Sports Illustrated. He has some pretty good stories over the years. Can't stand Keeler that writes for the DM Register.

We can assume this would be a vote for worst... basically most people at the Rag would probably fall under this as well.

Re: Best and Worst sportswriters and sportscasters

Rick Rielly has always been one of my favorites, I usually flip to the back of SI when I get it just to read his column.

I also usually enjoy the guys on Around the Horn (for the most part, but I despise Realli) and really enjoy watching Kornheiser and Wilbon on Pardon the Interruption, those guys are usually quality entertainment and usually a good read as well when their material shows up.

And I'll second a motion for Jim Rome for worst, I find it mostly unnecessary for a guy like him to have his own show where he just rips on people.

I think it is Mike Gottfried that does some football for ESPN. I like listening to him ok, as far as what he has to say, but he sounds like he has dentures that are about to fly out when he talks.

Re: Best and Worst sportswriters and sportscasters

I personally like listening to Gary Thorne, his voice is great. Pete Taylor was damn good, too.

Not much into sportswriters. Don't pay much attention to any one particular writer. However, Dienhart is obviously one of the worst. His obvious grudge against ISU for letting his boy McCarney go is childish at best. Sportswriters are not supposed to have bias' like he does.

Lou Holtz=worst. You wanna talk about denture problems, you talk about Lou Holtz. Oh, and he's a Notre Dame homer. That's annoying too.
