Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on the best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters.
I have found that discussing Gene Chizik and referring to him as the "next Bob Stoops" really gets under their skin in a major way. They are afraid of the unknown in Chizik. They hate that Stoops jilted them for OU and that he has been ultra-successful at OU. I think this is especially irritating since Ferentz is proving to be nothing more than an average coach for them and they are beginning to realize it (even though they won't admit it).
Your thoughts and ideas...

Just ignoring them works pretty well.
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
Several things.
1.) I wasn't aware that Ferentz was an average coach. Do average coaches usually win the BigTen twice in three years, 2 BigTen coach of the year awards, a National Coach of the year award, coach in 4 straight January bowl games (winning 2 of them), and send multiple players to the first round of the draft? If so, I guess I (along with other Hawk fans looooooove having average).
2.) At first, yes, we were upset with not getting Stoops. Then, of course, Ferentz improved big time, and Stoops started getting embarassed on the national stage. Add in his off-field problems with his players, and you guys can have a "2nd coming of Stoops" if that's what you so choose.
3.) Most Hawk fans don't really care about Chizik - much in the same way most ISU fans don't care about Lickliter.
And I just realized something. Perhaps a thread like this irritates Hawk fans the most, lol. Me thinks me fell into a trap.

Winning seems to work the best...
But not just that game. Lets win a Big 12 title or two. Some big bowl games.
That aught to do the trick.
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
"Ferentz is a dime a dozen coach" while wearing a "I love Jim Rome" Shirt
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
haha. yeah, jim rome's not the biggest Iowa fan is he?

Ferentz is a decent coach, but nothing really special. The best thing that happened to him was the Oline that he was able to put together a couple years ago. Those guys won a lot of games for Iowa.
He has also coached himself into a couple really bad seasons back to back.

I'd have to disagree on that. He's a little more then decent having coached in more then a few New Years Bowl games. Let's also not forget that the closet was pretty bare when Hayden retired and he built something out of nothing.
I don't often defend the Hawks, but you should give credit when it's due. I don't think he deserves to be one of the highest paid coaches in the country, but I suppose that's what they have to do to keep him in Iowa City.
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
Force them to buy Iowa State season tickets to go to the Iowa State-Iowa game.
Oh, wait...
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
Challenge them to a game of Trivia Pursuit or any other game that is a test of knowledge.

Actually Bobber,
You defend the hawks alot. Maybe I just notice it more than your other posts, but I have always thought you were a closet hawk fan/ impersonating ISU fan.
But I know you aren't. To your credit when you do defend the hawks you are levelheaded about it.

Okay I can live with that. I guess I try not to let my emotions get in the way of seeing a situation.
Oh and I assure you I am not a Hawk fan.:sweet:
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
Ask them where did Linkliter come from. Tell them you never heard of him before. When they say Butler, you say you have to be kidding. The last coach that was in the Big 12 was Barry Collarless.
Re: Best ways to irritate hawkeye fans and supporters
Best way to irritate a hawk fan??? Come up from behind him and steal his pizza warmer bag and pizza's when he is in the process of delivering Domino's. Then of course returning it to the store. --or-- Ordering food from him/her at McDonalds and then bring it back up telling him you ordered something completely different.
The ONLY think I like about EIU is Ferentz, who is not a typical hawkeye. He is level headed, not arrogant or cocky, and is one heck of a coach, which is why I can't wait for him to take an NFL job so I can root for his team.
Best way to **** them cockroaches off is as ISUFan22 says, start beating them in a regular and extreme fashion and then start winning Big 12 championships and then BCS bowls or more Elite 8 tiers of the NCAA tourny's.
