Browns trading up for Quinn was a great trade, IMO. I wish the bears would have traded up for him.

Same here. Although the Bears did sign Chris Leak to a FA deal. Chicago loves the Florida QBs...

I was just praying that the Browns or someone was not going to trade up and take Quinn before my Chiefs picked and well the Browns did just that the pick before the Chiefs. I know the Chiefs have Croyle in the wings but I would think that Quinn would be an even better option if they could have got him.

I think the Cowboys-Browns trade was the best of the day and easily could be for both sides.

By Cleveland making the trade, they got the QB they wanted without taking him at #3. Should Quinn pan out, that will go down as one of the best draft-day trades in history.

For Dallas, via that trade the the subsequent one with Philly, they netted a first round pick in '08 for 3rd and 5th round picks from '07.

In the first trade, Dallas gave up their 1st round pick for an '07 2nd rounder and an '08 first rounder. Then, they moved back into the first round with Philly, giving the Eagles their newly acquired 2nd rounder plus 3rd and 5th round picks.

So for 3rd and 5th round picks, Dallas will have their own first round pick for '08 as well as Cleveland's - what easily could be a top 10, if not top 5 pick. It's been that way for the past 8 years or so at least.

Dallas easily could be taking McFadden with next year's 1st, first round pick with another in the bag.

I'm a Cowboy homer, but any NFL owner would gladly give up a 3rd and 5th round pick for next year's 1st rounder without hesitation.

It probably depends on what Julius does this year and if he stays healthy again. If RB isn't a need area, and the available players would allow it, I think we would look at WR and LT to replace Flozell if we don't think we have a guy on our 53 man roster who can replace him.

Another possibility is if a high rated FS or CB is available (depending on how strongly they feel about Pat Watkins).

I love the versatility this gives the Cowboys for '08.

This isn't like Jerry, making moves that are not for today, but the future.

I'm not quite sold on Romo yet but then again I don't really care much for the Cowboys either, especially since they have TO which just makes it even more funny to have them deal with that 3 ring circus all the time. There should be some decent QB's in next year's draft that the Cowboys can take if for some reason Romo flops this year. He was a nice story this past season, now that he has some expectations lets see how he handles them.

I think there is still more fun to come. I would think that Miami is still looking to get Trent Green possibly since they passed on Quinn. I know they took John Beck in the 2nd round but I know they want to get rid of Daunte and they don't have any other servicable veteran QB's on the roster right now. And mid-summer you always get the cap cuts and some quality veterans always seem to be available all the sudden because their teams can't afford to pay their roster bonuses.

Him and Bill did it when they passed on Steven Jackson and then ended up taking Marcus Spears with the pick the next year. I'd argue we made the wrong move with that one.

You're right about Romo, but I highly doubt he's not our starter past next year. If they had an ounce of doubt, Brady Quinn would be a Cowboy. The fact that they passed on him should give Romo an awful lot of confidence.

Yup, I know that. I loved the move then and I still like it. Again, that versatility allowed Dallas to get Ware and Spears. Word is they were going to take Spears with that #11 pick if they had not had the later one. So, IMO, the move was great - allowing Dallas to get both. Spears hasn't been what was expected so far - hopefully the new staff can get him motivated.

Dallas hasn't exactly been lacking a running game. Jones and Barber have been a productive one-two punch. In cases where Dallas was unable to run, I credit that to the offensive line more than I do the backs. Those two have proven they can run the ball in the NFL.

I agree 100%. I think Romo is the man for years to come. My point was, if he doesn't pan out and Dallas wants to go a different direction, they have that option in '08 as well.

I'd be very surprised if the pick from Cleveland was anything worse than a #10.

The only beef I have with the draft by Dallas this year would be not addressing 2 of their needs early in the draft - corner and receiver. That QB they drafted will be converting to wide receiver...should be interesting to see how that goes.

When drafting 3rd and 5th, behind the Bears #1 pick...I wonder if Dallas will have their pick of QB's.
