I was just looking over the players that ISU has offered for the 08 football recruiting class. The talent level of the players we are looking at is unreal compared to recent years. I made a list for this years recruiting class in a previous thread a long time ago about how many BCS offers our commitments had compared to McCarney's last years teams. The numbers were...
Year--------------------06----------07
Commitments------------30----------19(including Bell)
Offers-------------------35----------29
Offers Per player---------1.1---------1.6
On the list of players that we have offered for 08 a few of them have already committed to other schools but I will include their numbers just to show the talent we are "looking" at. This list doesn't even include Sam McGuffie because I guess we must have stopped going after him and he had offers from every big school! Instead of commitments I will put it as prospects.
I know that some of those players have committed to other schools and we wont get some of the available ones so I will have to update it in the future. But it is cool to see such an increase in talent level!
This means nothing to me until some of these "highly" ranked recruits actually suit up and play for the Cyclones!!
We can offer every single top-100 player (offer per player > 8??), and it would mean nothing unless they actually accepted our offer and were eligilbe to play for ISU.

Well yeah, it obviously doesn't mean a whole lot until they commit to ISU... but in the past we haven't even had a chance to get commitments with these highly of rated recruits. You can't get them unless you offer them!

We had Webster Patrick, unfortunately he didn't qualify. That's why I don't get overly excited until they are on campus.

Mac offered plenty of players that had multiple offers. Problem is that he didn't land many of them... especially in recent years. I think the 2-10 season in 2003 really hurt Mac's recruiting efforts.
If you look at Chizik's first recruiting class, although very late in the game, the commitments had more BCS offers compared to a lot of Mac's recruiting classes. So I am confident Chiz will be able to land some of the big time players!

I like your confidence! I was happy he was able to hold onto Bass, Bell and Bibbs. These guys could all be impact players in 2007!
