TV Ratings: Sports, Network TV, Cable Tv, etc
I was curious about sports ratings on TV and found a website that shows some various TV ratings. The ratings are a few weeks old. Sports ratings
A couple of things that stuck out to me: 1) The NBA playoff ratings are terrible. Friday Night Smackdown on CW beat the Saturday afternoon playoff game on ABC. Also, I didn't expect NASCAR and baseball to be the top watched sporting events.
Also, I think the NFL on Fox gets much higher ratings that anything here...I've seen averages of about a 11.0 rating.
Also, here are the Top 20 weekly TV shows from April 23-29. TV Ratings
I didn't know House was doing that well...I've never watched the show. I also didn't know Lost has fallen so far.
There are also ratings for Cable shows and Syndicated shows.

Not surprised the NBA is so low. It will only get worse with some of the big boys falling.
The TV ratings linked were one week's look. Here is a season link... LINK
What, no "The Office"? How rude...

Another thing that amazes me...people aren't tired of American Idol yet.

just when you thought the NHL was dead, you have the NBA that's threatening to do worse than it...
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Actually, that's somewhat better than the NBA has done in recent years.
I think that we'll see the NBA start making something of a comeback with college players in the NBA again. The funny thing is that the NBA is one of the best attended leagues around. I think Football only beats them in % capacity.

Part of the problem for NBA ratings this year may be that the most compelling series (Houston v. Utah, Dallas v. Golden State) are in the Western Conference and some of those games during the week don't start and end until very late. I was watching Suns v. Lakers last night at midnight.

House is a great show. I only started watching it, but the writing is great and the relationship House has with the other doctors is well done. Check it out!

Another thing is that the NBA playoffs last like a month and a half. Also, I think too many teams make the playoffs. I don't think people really like watching teams that are under .500 in the playoffs.

House is a rip off of Dr. Cox on scrubs. Scrubs even makes fun of House in an episode called "My House"

A couple things..
ABC really shot themselves in the foot these last couple Saturdays when they had infomercials before and after afternoon NBA action. When I saw that, I had to think they screwed up. You are not going to get many extra watchers doing that.
Why is Friday Night Smackdown even listed as a sport?

I can watch cooking shows with my wife on The Food Network before I can get myself to watch an NBA game, and I consider myself a basketball fan.

I lost interest in Idol the season after Carrie won. That show is getting old, it's hard to make it in the music industry and ocassionally you'' discover talents like Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson but look at some of the others that won:
Ruben: might need a search team sent out to find whatever happened to him.
Fantasia: sucked, now singing broadway.
Taylor Hicks: give me a break...
Although a few of the non-winners have been doing ok. Josh Gracin and Kellie Pickler both have had some success on the country charts. And I'm not sure but I think Jennifer Hudson won an acting award in the movie Dream Girls and has done a few things musically as well. Kimberly Locke has had some hits on the contemporary charts too I think.
As long as the Bulls stay in the playoffs I'll watch their games but I have little interest in the rest of the playoffs.
Oh, and is anyone else groaning about having to be forced by your SO to sit through 2 hours of Grey's Anatomy tonight? The season needs to end soon, it just keeps getting more and more rediculous with some of these storylines. I pray they move it back to Sunday nights next season so I don't have to watch it!

He's a case of people thinking he was safe and not voting. He would've won the season easy, had his fans actually voted instead of getting complacent. America just chose the next best person in Hicks.

Yeah, I get to sit through that horrid show each week, luckily the wife sometimes watches it at a friend's place. I can't stand how serious people take the stupid thing, it's just a show and the diehards actually get all teary-eyed when someone else breaks up with someone and starts humping someone else. HORRIBLE t.v.

Oh 22 I understand your love for the bald headed man...we are a fraternity of sorts. However I really thought the best Idol won last year. Of course it was the only year I've ever watched it and Hicks sang the type of music that I listen to (Blues/bluegrass/southern rock) it should have come down to him and Doughtry but eh. Do you all think that Lost has suffered in ratings and share b/c it alienated so many the first season with the on for two off for three schedule? Most of my friends watch it as it comes out on DVD the following year. Heros may have done the same since I don't hear too many talking about it. Love those shows possibly my favorite 2 on DVR.
