Re: 32,751
I'm predicting Jamie will do some sort of ticket promotion to try and sell the remaining tickets. He has nothing to lose by doing this....

Re: 32,751
Just keep referring people!!! I've gotten 4 coworkers to become season ticket holders.

If they do, they would sell out the 7,800 allotment.
It would be pretty sad to see the general public answer Jamie's call but not for students to do so as well plus they received an extra allotment of tickets this year.

I think everyone who really wants tickets has already got them, and you are not going to see much of an increase from here on out. There will probably be one more solid push in August, but im guessing we will be in the 34K to 35K range. My guess would be closer to 34K, and if we go over 35K, I will be very surprised!

We are not starting the student-bashing again, and we're definitely not going to start it over 3 months before we even get to campus. It was ridiculous how much stuff we got blamed for last season (a lot of it hypocritical and/or self-defeating; do you remember the two big student/alumni flamewars?). For any little inane thing that alums can criticize the students for, there's an equal criticism that students can make of alums. Why do we need to go through this? It shouldn't be "Stadium Slaughter 2- Old Fogies vs. Whippersnappers", it should be "Cyclones versus the World". You graduated from Iowa State, I'm going to Iowa State, we both like Cyclone football- hey! Look at that! Something in common! Let's cheer together and beat the other guys! Eh?
I don't know who keeps saying that student tickets didn't sell out last year, but they DID sell out. They weren't sold out before the first game, no. They sold out right around the UNLV game, when all the freshmen who thoughtthey didn't like football realized that college football is sweet, ISU gameday is sweet, and all their friends were going anyway. That's the natural order of the world. Until our program starts having lots of W's and not a lot of L's (or enrollment increases more than 2 or 3% each year), student season tickets aren't going to be sold out before the season even starts. They'll get close, and then sell out within the first couple games. Have faith- they're young and inexperienced, and wary of parting with that much money.
True and Valiant
I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I'm just saying that if the general public stepped up and bought 15% more season tickets this year, it isn't unreasonable to assume the students will do the same thing so just calm it a little. I was a student just a few years ago.
I was just replying to CrossCyed saying that they didn't sell out. I have no idea if they did or not, I remember that question being asked a lot last year around kickoff. I would assume they sold out if the students are being given MORE tickets this year.

Re: 32,751
I don't find discussing the fact that students didn't buy their full allotment in '06 to be student bashing.
Nor do I find it bashing of the students to discuss the potential % increase in sales by non-students vs. students.
