quite the slowdown from the last couple of weeks (46 from last Tuesday), but still positive!:biggrin9gp:
I would hope our numbers don't go negative :eek4wd:
When the end zone seats sold out, we had a surge of fence sitters. When July comes around, we may have another surge.
I don't think we'll make 35K. I think we'll end up around 34 (give or take a couple hundred). Going to really slow down over the next 2 months or so then pick up abit before August
I agree that it will probably slow way down for a little while. I bet it will pick back up after the seat assignments are sent out as that will generate more interest again.
The student season tickets have only factored in 7,000 out of a total available 7,800. So that is 800 additional tickets right there. I figure that we will average at least 1,000 per month for 3 months. That is only an average of 34 per day. Once August hits and we are approaching 38,000 seats sold, reality will hit the last fence sitters. For with 38,000 seats sold PLUS the 4,000 tickets allocated to the visitors for each game we will have 42,000 seats taken. Now you have to add on the Tent sales. I believe I read that this is something like 3,000 tickets per game. So now you are at 45,000 which is almost a virtual sellout. Granted that we have sold a lot of season hillside sieats, so there will still be some seats for some games but not very many. Pollard has said that there will be NO Iowa tickets sold to the general public on a single game basis. I look for there to be some donations made to buy these tickets but they will sit empty unless they are donated for some worthy cause. We will continue to sell hillside seats to other games as long as people are willing to buy them.
I am optimistic for around 38,000 season tickets sold. There is NO REASON for anyone 20-29 years of age to not buy tickets because of the great deal they get.. If the Iowa game tickets fetch $250 for a single ticket, scalpers will buy up our entire allotment. We realistically have to grow our base to 40,000 if we are to justify an expansion. And keep growing.
Again, we did not sell 7000 student tickets last year (at least, I seem to recall we sold like 6800). Why would we sell 7800 for this fall?
I think there is a group of people out there that will buy season tickets but do not give to the NCC. These people have no incentive to send money in until July or August. They will get basically the same seats by waiting until just before they release single game tickets for sale for all the other games.
I think July and August will do 1,000 per month, but it will be slow until then.
I think arguing about season ticket sales is aweful boring.
Are the 7800 student tickets added into the total?
Lol- this is the question that never dies, no matter how many times it gets answered.
There are 7800 season tickets reserved for students this year. There were 7000 last year. The current total includes the original 7000, but NOT the extra 800. So, when student tickets sell out, there will be an extra 800 tickets in the count.
