DM Register's Directions for a Road Trip to Milwaukee
The front page of the DM Register's Sports section featured an article about the Milwaukee Brewers. Towards the bottom of the article was a section about taking a road trip from Des Moines to see the Brewers. On their little map they had the following directions: "HEAD WEST ON I-80"

"Take I-80 West" That's going to turn out to be a LONG trip to Milwaukee.

The inaccuracies in the DMR sports section are horrible. In Monday's paper, they ran the Sunday games and start times for the NBA playoffs. I think Gannett has cut their staffing to the marrow.

" I think Gannett has cut their staffing to the marrow"
I think it's a question of quality, not just quantity -

I think it's a question of quality, not just quantity I think you are correct there. They probably have high school kid putting the sports section to bed.

While I cannot stand the "Rag" and find it hilarious that their editor must be geographically-challenged, it is a good thing that the Brew Crew is finally getting some respect. I realize that they have not had too difficult of a schedule, but good ball clubs need to be able to win head-to-head series against same-division opponents. This is something they have done thus far. (And for those who want to dis me with the "It's still too freakin' early" argument - let me ask you: Would you rather be 22-10 OR 15-14 or 12-18 this early in the season? ... thought so!). GO BREWERS!!

I like that the Brewers are in first...show people a "small market" team can win in baseball.

Actually, 25 years!!!! Even in '92, an excellent 92-70 record wasn't able to earn them a playoff spot. Also, I'm fully prepared to "eat crow" if for some reason the Crew's season collapses. However, as long as the injury bug doesn't hit, I think this group has what it takes to get to the playoffs - and it starts with one of Bobby Cox's disciples : Mgr. Ned Yost!

If a high school kid was writing for the Red Star, it would be a whole lot better. Instead, they hire Urinalists. Nothing like functionally illiterate, social-climbing, left-wing idealogues who all want to be the next Goebbels to produce a real quality paper.
