Johnny Orr Floor?
I think it's time that we honor the MBB coach who turned the whole thing around: Johnny Orr. No one has ever made basketball in Hilton as fun and exciting as Johnny did. The place was shaking, sometimes literally, the fans turned-on, and the opponents intimidated. Who cared if we usually sucked on the road? Johnny would get 'em at Hilton. So how about it, while he's thankfully still with us. Johnny Orr Floor. Kinda has a nice ring to it.

"The Iowa State Cyclones defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 93 to 67 last night on the newly dedicated Johnny Orr Court inside of Hilton Coliseum."
Sounds good to me. -

I kinda like the ring of Johnny Orr Floor. It's unique.

Re: Johnny Orr Floor?
I think Orr Floor sounds like a gimmick. I like the classic sound of Orr Court. Better yet, sell the name of the court for millions to some big donor and just put up a bronze statue of Johnny pumping his fist outside of Hilton. I think it would be a favorite intro camera shot of ESPN as they say "You're looking at a statue of the great Johnny Orr outside of Hilton Colliseum as the Cyclones get ready to take on the Jayhawks".

Is the press box at JTS named after Pete? If it's not is should be asap.

Re: Johnny Orr Floor?
The press box at Jack Trice needs to be named after Pete Taylor I think. Thanks a lot Bruce VDV. Think it was him that said they'd do something special to honor him and all they did was put a banner for him in Hilton. Think he deserved a little more than that...

I loved Pete as much as anyone but if we name our court for a person it has to be Johnny Orr. A statue of Johnny would be great as well. And I like the ideas on honoring Pete.
I am tempted to dole out some negative rep to you for this comment!!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

I am tempted to dole out some negative rep to you for this comment!! Wow, out of all my comments, I did not think that one would get people riled up. I like the statue idea for Johnny better. But I do think Pete deserves some recognition at ISU. Johnny was a great guy, and people loved him, but he was not even the most sucessful basketball coach at ISU. If we name the court Johnny Orr court, we should name the football field McCarney field. Dan did more with less than Johnny did, and it is much harder to turn around a football program than basketball.

Re: Johnny Orr Floor?
I think it's a terrible idea. Orr was a good coach but he never went to a Final Four, never won a Big 8 Tournamet Title, and never won a regular season conference title. On top of that he only won 18 more games than he lost.
Orr was great for the program but he did not achieve enough to have the court named after him.
