Re: New Desktop Wallpaper
To the Photoshop users that like black and white photos, I suggest picking up a copy of Exposure by Alien. It's a plugin/filter for Photoshop.
I've never been happy with the digital black and white options - could never duplicate a black and white from a film camera. Exposure can do that, and more. Highly recommend it!
I also give many props to Adobe's new product, Lightroom. It makes life much easier.

Re: New Desktop Wallpaper
nedrick, i didnt use a mask for that, it is just a very tedious process i do with layers

Re: New Desktop Wallpaper
What's the difference between using the layers and such than using the select tools, selecting the inverse after you've selected the colored areas and setting that selection to b&w?

Re: New Desktop Wallpaper
not too much except for the fact that that takes more time

I like time-saving tools, as long as the results aren't different. -

That's actually NOT black and white - that's a full colored, blown up and blurred pic of Jack Trice I found on cyclones.com. I had to blur it because when I blew it up that big it was pretty badly pixelized and I tried to hide that. What I did on top of that then was put a new layer on top of that and filled it in with white. I then reduced the fill to 50% (or 30%, I don't remember which). You can get the same effect by reducing the opacity of the layer (not sure what the difference is, but I'm sure there is a difference). Although it gives the impression of black and white, it's not black and white, the colors are just extremely bleached out.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
Re: New Desktop Wallpaper
I never thought your image was B&W...we're referring to ISUclones33's image.
