Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
If you have 6:12 of time that you absolutely don't care that you wasted it listening to this worthless piece of crap talk about how God is using VT massacre, Iraq, Katrina disasters as wrath against America for going against the Greensboro Church and it's members, then listen to this hogwash. Break.com - *Westboro Church Pastor Is Insane
This guy gives Christianity a bad name and I hope he pays dearly... -
Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
I didn't listen to the sound byte but wouldn't "hoping this guy pays dearly" be a little hypocritical coming from a Christian? I agree though, it's sick to think that a lot of the general public gets their idea of Christianity from a few headcases that are shown on t.v.

Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
And the ad for this topic is religousfool.com, I think that is a funny coincidence.
I think it is a little overboard for this pastor to claim that all these are because of his church.

Reason: Interesting. . . I type in www.religousfool.com and it creates its own headliner. The hyperlinks have eyes . . .

Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
I have faith that 99.9% of people know that these people are just an ignorant family of hillbillies and have no sense of logic and reason. They just get air time and publicity because they are insane. The less attention we pay to them, the sooner they will go away (hopefully).

You're 100% correct on the hypocritical comment now that I go read what I originally typed. I just can't imagine having lost a loved one in Iraq or in Hurrican Katrina, or the VT massacre and then hearing this supposed christian celebrating that it happened and stating that God is happy about getting his vengeance. It's disgusting
Not that it justifies the comment anyhow..

Good point Wonka- I know several people who take examples of the far right radical christian fundamentalists and paint that whole image for all of christianity or, religion in general. Fundamentalist/extremists of any religion are dangerous to me, whether they are islamic or christian. One thing though, I've never heard of any fundamentalist-Buddhist terrorist organizations. Maybe they're doing something right. I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. Thomas Jefferson, 1802 -
Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
You got that right about people painting Christianity with a broad brush in relation to these radicals. I think that it's much more common for people in say, Iowa, to understand that these people do not represent the group as a whole...however, now living in Vegas, I can assure you that plenty of people view these idiots and base their perspective on religions off them. I mean people out here don't have the time to use their blinkers while driving, much less research the values of different religious groups.

I extremely underestimated the American population -

Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
I wonder which Greensboro it is? My sister lives in Greensboro, NC and is originally from Iowa. I had her look up this church in the yellow pages and it doesn't exist. I wonder if this is a cruel joke or somebody ranting on a public access channel.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -
Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
I think you got confused. It is the Westboro Baptist Church... and the scary part is it is based right next to us in Topeka, Kansas.
Here's a link: Westboro Baptist Church - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It sickens me how people can say things like these people.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
I wonder if the people that were holding signs and yelling at us at the gates at the first ISU football game were affiliated with that church. If they weren't I am sure they were of the same doctrine.

Re: Greensboro pastor is insane!!!
Is that the same church that goes and taunts homosexuals and tells them that God hates them?

Originally Posted by Nedrick Is that the same church that goes and taunts homosexuals and tells them that God hates them? Yes, it's the same "church." I remember them visiting Iowa State at least once when I was there. They also had a contingent at the 2005 Presidential Inaugural Parade in D.C., holding signs that said, "Thank God for the Tsunami" (referring the tsunami that devastated the Indian Ocean region on New Year's Eve 2004/2005. I also ran into some of them at a Colorado State/Wyoming football game a few years ago, holding up signs celebrating the "anniversary" of Matthew Shephard's "descent into hell." Man, I just can't seem to escape these idiots!
