New York Vacation
Going to Cooperstown for the induction this summer. Also planning to take in West Point and NYC. Anybody have any words of wisdom for me on this trip? Anything I should be certain to do? Anything to avoid? Thanks.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes. -

M E T S, Mets Mets Mets. Catch a game at the dump they call Shay. They're destroying it soon, so it will be your last chance to notch that ballpark off your list.

Forget the Mets, Go to a YANKEES game at the "House that Ruth Built". They will also be playing in a new stadium soon.

I did the touristy stuff when I went. Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Times Square, etc. If you like plays/musicals, I'd suggest taking in a show on Broadway. I went to Phantom of the Opera and it was amazing. Central Park is very neat as well.
I went to the WTC when it was still up although I'd like to go to Ground Zero to see what its like now. I'd definitely put that on the list.
And baseball is always a good idea. I was there during the offseason so I didn't get a chance to go.

Spend the $$$ to go to the top of the Empire State Bldg. It is well worth the $$$ spent. Also wander thru St. Patrick's Cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful churches in America, if not the world. I would also recommend the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island tour. That was fun.
Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -
Re: New York Vacation
Tour the cementary at West Point and also go to the Museum. Both are interesting to see the history. Look into a city tourist pass at NYC. They had them when we went a couple of years ago and they can save you quite a bit of money if you have the time to see the items on the pass. Go to Central Park in the daylight, Order your tickets to Letterman now if possible. They won't let you know if you get them until a couple of days before. So give them your cellphone number or check your ansering machine at home.

Go to the Empire State Building. Not sure if West Point is worth it. I went to the football game and that was worth it, but don't see much point in visiting. Haven't been to Statue of Liberty since I was about 7, so can't say one way or the other. I can say for sure that if you know someone who lives in the NYC, they are the best guides. Skip touristy stuff and just go out and enjoy life in the city. Otherwise , Grant's Tomb is little known (because its at 122nd St) but a cool place. Can't say I'd recommend a baseball game. Finally, driving in/around the city isn't fun, the urine soaked subway is the way to go.
