Brett Thompson Off the Board
Just got a phone call from one of my MBB recruiting sources and they told me that Brett Thompson committed to St. Louis today. I don't know any details on the situation but this is from a solid source.

I think I hear a big "I told you so", from some fellow 'cloners. -

Some people wear Superman pajamas. Superman wears Chuck Norris pajamas. -
Re: Brett Thompson Off the Board
That sucks. I was kind of counting on him to be our "realistic" big man recruit. I mean in reality we aren't getting Zeller. Are we at an LA Pomlee come on down point?

Re: Brett Thompson Off the Board
Why is it so hard to get big guys to ISU??? We have high ranking guards and forwards biting but we can't get anyone over 6'10" and some body weight to even look at us. You would think that some of these kids would start to see a great opportunity for 4 years of playing time in the Big XII.

Re: Brett Thompson Off the Board
I really think this was more of an issue of academics. Thompson had said in previous articles that he was really focusing on schools like SLU because they have a very strong academic background.
Green hills for thy throne, and for crown a golden melody/Ringing in the hearts of all who bring thee love and loyalty/Dear Alma Mater, make our spirits great True and valiant like the bells of I-O-WA STATE!
And thank you Stumpy for this: -

im sure Majerus wil celebrate tonight by having 4 racks of ribs instead of 3, two more twice baked, some oniions rings, french fries, a philly cheese steak, some polish sausage, a large chocolate milkshake and his favorite non-diet soda.

Re: Brett Thompson Off the Board
I hate getting fired up about recruits and envisioning them as cyclones only to see them pick another school eventually. But it seems like nearly all the recruits we have gotten under McDermott were surprises. Most of us hadn't heard their names connected to ISU and then wake up one day and we have a commit from a 5 star or a 4 star. Let's face it, we have gotten some pretty good recruits that seemed to come out of nowhere. I'm gonna hold out hope that I will wake up one morning, eat some rice crispies, log on to cyclonefanatic and find out that we just signed some 6'11 255 lb. 4 star center.

I've gotten to the point that I don't celebrate recruits until I see them on our court. I got burned after I printed up 500 "I cheer for Chiriaev" t-shirts.
Forever trying to find a cure for the Dunning-Kruger Effect. -

Majerus probably said they were a shoo in to join the MVC. Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
