Hey Folks! We are closing in on EIU!

Per the attached, EIU expects to sell about 40,000 season tickets this year for football. We are over 33,000 right now. How about a big push to get everyone of our tickets sold before August 1. We can beat the
(S)hawks this year!

I hate to say this....I really do. But I think I read where this Hawkeye number doesn't include student tickets and our number includes most of the student tickets sales.

I could be wrong, I'll check.

Re: Hey Folks! We are closing in on EIU!

Just out of curiousity, what would we beat them at? We can't sell as many season tickets as they can. Also, why are they a bench-mark?

Save us tonight, the last hope for all of us,
Light-years gone by, we're still holding on,
Save us tonight, a star shines in all of us,
Far beyond our lives, still our glory lives on.

Also include the fact that our tickets include hillside and south endzone tickets that are discounted, as well. The hawks are paying full price for all of their tickets. Sorry to say it but we have ways to go to catch up to them, but we are making huge strides

Exactly....
They are paying a ton more for their tickets than we are.

Here is the article:

Doesn't include 10,000 students and 10,000 faculty.....ouch!!

Tickets selling fast
By Scott Dochterman

The Gazette

IOWA CITY — Iowa has sold more than half its 28,000-ticket allotment for

IOWA FOOTBALL

the Sept. 1 football opener against Northern Illinois in Chicago, David Sandstrum said Thursday.

Sandstrum, Iowa’s assistant athletics director for ticket operations, said he won’t have official numbers until the June 15 order deadline, but tickets are going at ‘‘a fast pace.’’

‘‘At this point, we’re very, very pleased,’’ Sandstrum said.

Sandstrum said a 2006 stadium reseating and 2005’s reconstruction make comparisons difficult. He said the school sold about 40,000
public season tickets last year.
‘‘We’ve almost matched last year,’’ Sandstrum said. ‘‘I’m pleased with the overall interest and sales and the number of new seasonticket holders that have come on board.’’

The public season -ticket numbers don’t reflect the roughly 10,000 faculty members and 10,000 students who purchase tickets . The school also allocates 4,000 tickets to visiting schools as part of its Big Ten agreement. But only Minnesota has accepted all 4,000 tickets , so Iowa will re-sell any leftovers.

Iowa season -ticket holders receive first dibs on road games, including the $90 Iowa State ticket. Sandstrum said he’ll have those numbers in June. Singlegame
tickets — if available — go on sale July 10.
Although the school hasn’t started selling basketball season tickets , it is courting new customers. An advertisement features Coach Todd Lickliter on the school’s sports Web site. When browsers click on the ad, an e-mail appears that asks for personal information. The e-mail then is sent to Iowa’s ticket office so when the schedule is released, the interested party is notified.

Sandstrum said basketball ticket sales may move up to July this year, one month early. He said the school likely will set its pre-Big Ten schedule by
then.

Re: Hey Folks! We are closing in on EIU!

From the NCAA Financial Reports Database from last year.
Iowa Football Ticket Sales $14.5 Million
ISU Football Ticket Sales $6.0 Million

I think we will improve considerably from last year, but probably still well behind Iowa.

Re: Hey Folks! We are closing in on EIU!

I was hoping this would motivate all of us to get out and convince all our friends to jump on board. The sooner we sell-out JT , JP can make his next move in the process. This is the direction we need to go and go quickly. I want a bigger stadium that is full as soon as possible.

Re: Hey Folks! We are closing in on EIU!

I really don't see any point in comparing the two. They've got a stadium that holds nearly 20,000 more people than ours does, and they currently have a larger install base. We do not match those numbers, but we're not Iowa- we don't need to. All we need to do is have great numbers for Iowa State and meet the goals of Iowa State. I agree- the day will come when our stadium is just as big as theirs and just as full as theirs. But we're not there yet, so why bother comparing us to them just to make us look bad? Give it a rest- stop caring so much about Iowa. You're acting like we're the unpopular kid at school, always leeching on the the popular ones in a desperate attempt to get noticed. Don't worry- we'll get noticed soon enough, and under our own power.

I believe Iowa sells as many tickets as they are capable of, through NCAA regulations.

I believe the last few years they have had to cut off season ticket sales.
Its really no comparison.

I hope they sell 100,000 season tickets. It makes the trailer parks that much easier to loot.
