Re: 07-08 Roster
So who are the starters?
G- Mike Taylor
G- Rahshon Clark
F- Wesley Johnson
F- Craig Brackins
C- Jiri Hubalek
Would it work to throw Clark in at guard?? I don't think we'd want to have Clark, Brackins or Johnson on the bench. Just an idea.

Re: 07-08 Roster
Hopefully:
PG-Garrett
SG-Taylor
SF-Wes Johnson
PF-Brackins
C-Jiri
I'm sad that I can't see Clark starting but I just don't see it unless there's injuries. I like this roster, hopefully it stays this way.

Re: 07-08 Roster
Wow. Seven freshmen. That's a lot of newbies to break in. I knew we had a big incoming freshman class, but I guess it didn't hit me until I looked at the updated roster. I hope a few of them - Brackins in particular - can step up and produce right away.

Re: 07-08 Roster
Taylor will most likely be suspended to start the year.
PG - Brister/Garrett
SG - Johnson
SF - Clark
PF - Hubalek/Brackins
C - Thompson/Hubalek
My best guess.

Re: 07-08 Roster
Did it surprise anyone else to see that Vette coming in as a true freshman is the biggest guy on our roster? I like his size a lot... I could see him being a little bit taller version of Greg Brunner (with a lot more hair).

My best guess. I don't see Wes going from a 4 to a 2. I see Clark as the starting 3 with Wes subbing in the 3 and 4.
But really, who knows at this point, but it is fun to speculate.
Don't confuse hope for a plan. -

As soon as Taylor is back, my best guess would be:
PG: Brister/Garrett (Brister the edge early due to his Big 12 ready body)
SG: Taylor
SF: Wes
PF: Brackins (stud!, no way he doesn't start from day 1, IMO)
C: Jiri/Thompson (not sure which one to go with here)

I don't know about that, with how good he is defensively and how much coach likes defense, he'll see a lot of playing time. Also, I see a lot of rotating next year, with it not really mattering who starts.

Re: 07-08 Roster
I think there are 2 problems McD will have in setting a starting lineup. First, is how do you keep either Rashon (RC) and Wesley (WJ) out of the lineup. Yet, neither has the skills to play the SG. Wes may eventually but right now, I think not. So if both play that leaves Jiri or Thompson at C and the frontcourt is full. I think its likely that anytime RC or WJ need a breather or get into foul trouble, in comes Brackins. Means he probably gets 10-20 minutes per game. Pretty good for a frosh. Vette or Corey fill in as needed. Actually the front court is in pretty good shape. RC and Jiri are seniors; Wes played a bunch as a Frosh; Thompson has 2 yrs D1 experience; Brackins has the size and talent to contribute right away.
The second and much bigger problem is who starts in the backcourt. In my opinion its just a guessing game at this point but I give the odds to Garrett at PG but Brister might be in the mix too. SG? Taylor obviously after he sits out awhile (assuming McD imposes sanctions). Staiger? Boozer? Brock? How about the JC transfer walk-ons Peterson and Haluska. Peterson sounds kinda like a Jacy Holloway type (ball control) and Haluska at 6-3 and 2 yrs experience at IHCC might be ready to play too. Who starts or gets significant minutes? Its just a guessing game at this point.

Garrett is the Only Frosh to Start IMO
I expect to see ISU go with this lineup early in the year:
PG - Garrett
SG- Taylor
WF- W. Johnson
PF - Thompson
C - Hubalek
As good as Brackins was in HS/Prep School he will have a lot to learn on the defensive side of the ball and G-Mac's offense has a ton of set plays. I would expect it will take Brackins a while to learn the system. I don't think it matters a whole lot between Thompson, Hubalek and Brackins who starts. The trio will each get between 25-30mpg.
It would also not surprise me to see W. Johnson continue to play some at the PF postion depending on match-ups.
G-Mac used a lot of scholaships on guards and hopefully a couple guys step up big time. The biggest question marks going into the season will be PG and a consistent perimeter shooter. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Mike Taylor at PG early in the season if Garrett and Brister take some time to adjust.

Re: 07-08 Roster
What year are Haluska and Peterson in?

Re: 07-08 Roster
Im not saying we have a lot of great players but we certainly will have great DEPTH. I love that we can play so many guys.
