If you're looking for us to have as many commits as a team like Texas or something, well you're going to be pretty disappointed every year. It seems like this is generally the case every year with ISU and football recruiting, that we don't see a whole lot of commits until after the year has started. I could be wrong, but I don't really remember a whole lot of early signees.
It seems the past few years our early commits came just after the camps from mostly instate players. We haven't faired so well in-state this year, thus the lower number of commits to-date. I don't think the out of state kids normally commit until the fall. We don't get the cream from Florida and Texas as those kids are snapped up by the big name in-state schools. We get recruits from the next tier that often must prove themselves during their senior year campaigns, thus those commits normally come either after their first few games video is available, or even after their season ends in the fall.
BryceC and johnsonjj are correct. Between the fewer instate recruits and the tougher recruiting in the traditional states like Texas and Florida, we actually aren't doing too bad.
There are a lot of players that have mid to high interest in us and at this point in the process, that's about all you can ask for from quality players. Another factor is that the staff seems to be interested in several JUCO players that typically decide later on where they want to go.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
