If you have a chance to attend one of these events, I highly recommend it. Great atmosphere, especially for the kids. Plenty of opportunity to meet the coaches and chat with them. Door prizes. Players on hand. Cheerleaders. Good tailgate food, including beer. Pollard had another good idea with these. Show up and tell him how much you appreciate the changes!
Remaining dates: Sioux City (June 4), Council Bluffs (June 5), Mason City (June 11), and Waterloo (June 12).
Pollard told me the turnout in Cedar Rapids was bigger than Davenport, but that Davenport only had maybe 100 people at the traditional event last year and half of those were Bill Fennelly's relatives. So definitely a big improvement.
