Billy Fennelly has joined Brenda Frese's University of Maryland staff as an administrative assistant. DesMoinesRegister.com
EDIT...title should be "Fennelly's son joins ex-Cyclone's staff"

If son is as good as his father, it wouldn't suck to have another however many years with a Fennelly at the ISU women's basketball helm. :)
Don't get too comfy out there Billy.

I think that this is a great opportunity for Billy. He gets to glean the mind of Coach Frese at a successful program in a tough ACC conference. I'd like to see him move up the ranks at Maryland and eventually return to ISU and his father's staff in an appropriate position. After Bill retires, perhaps, depending on Billy's experience and success he could be a viable candidate for the top spot. Or at least he could be a top assistant for Brenda Frese when she returns to her home state of Iowa to take over ISU after Bill retires.
Good luck Billy.

Good luck Billy. Exactly. And put Lyndsey Medders on that staff as well.

Doesn't hurt that Brenda Frese is not too hard on the eyes either, hehe :)
Actually When Fennelly does retire or leave, not necessarily sure you want his young son to have to fill his big shoes here. Hopefully we don't have to worry about this for a long time though. I wouldn't even mind trying to pry Brenda Frese back to ISU if/when the time comes but considering Maryland is probably considered a bigger program than ISU currently that would possibly be a tough task.

I'm very pleased that this move suggests a continuing good relationship with the Freese family. Someday we may need an RPI boost with a home/home matchup with a quality program. This may also plant some seeds of opportunity and thought to recruiting different kinds of players in a different part of the country.
And, from Billy's perspective, he couldn't hope for a better first job.

And, from Billy's perspective, he couldn't hope for a better first job. I remember reading in the Rag that Maryland put feelers out there to see if any programs in Iowa would be interested in playing them. UNI was the only one that expressed any interest and wound up getting beaten badly for it.
I'm not sure if we want to take on that beast.
