That's really too bad. From what I've heard from older members of the community, he was a very well-liked and respected police cheif, and just a good guy in general.

Dan was the first coach to express his sympathy to my uncle (then associate head mens basketball coach) when my grandmohter passed away. he is a great guy and keep your thoughts and prayers with him and his family during this rough time.
i dont really like how they say that dan was fired in his dads obituary..
Yeah, that was pretty thoughtless. It should have read something like, "assistant coach at the University of Iowa, before going on to head coach at Iowa State for # seasons".

Under the headline it says By the Press-Citizen, so it was probably written by someone at the paper. I guess no ground is sacred when it comes to taking pot shots at ISU...
