Creighton Transfer Guard Isaac Miles to Visit ISU

Isaac Miles, former guard from Creighton plans to visit Ames this weekend. He left after his freshman year at Creighton and is now trying to figure where he wants to transfer to. He would have to sit out for 07-08, but would have three years of eligibility remaining. It looks he really wants to go to Mizzou, but is visiting Ames to keep his options open or to put pressure on MU. He has decent guard size at 6-2 205 and was named top player in the KC metro after his senior season at Bishop Miege.

With the guards we've got and those that are coming, I don't see how we need him or even have room for him unless he wants to walk on and earn a scholarship with his play.

How much did he play for Creighton last season? Good/average/bad stats?

He started for Creighton and is a solid player. He has some issues with Gonja and his attitude is less than steller. Gmac might think he can change that stuff if he get's him on campus. It also might be like a job interview for the kid. If he awnsers the questions the right way he get's a scholly. If he is an idiot then no Scholly. I would rather have Gibbs, but this would be a decent back up plan.

He started 27 of 33 games, averaging 6.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.7 assists, and 1.1 turnovers per game. Not bad for a freshman, but not outstanding either.

He has significant upside potential IMO but made mistakes. Yet he was as athletic as anyone on their team. He would need tutoring by McD to excel which he could do with a year off. He actually might surprise you when he gets older. Not a bigh man though. He can be very smooth and showed great improvement near the end of the first season..

I hope Gibbs is the last guard we are looking at for awhile. I'd really love to get him, but after he makes his decision I hope we put all our efforts into recruiting some big men.

We will get a big man. The question is will it be a highly rated guy or a guy like Iverson who will need some work to get him where he need's to be. Think Homan like..

From what I've heard, it's seems like the staff is not certain they want to go down the Issac Miles road. I guess we'll know more after the visit. IMHO, I don't think the team needs another high maintenance problem looking for a place to happen. Just my opinion.

I feel the same way Psyched, but I know McD is interested in getting some heavier guards into the program. I also hope we go in a different direction.

I'll be disappointed if we get him. I want Gibbs...an upstanding Iowa kid.

I doubt that many would disagree with you on that. It seemed like the staff was so close to landing Gibbs last month. The longer it drags out, the tougher the battle will likely get. I am still cautiously optimistic. If we lose him, I hope it's to the Badgers and not the Squawks.

Being a UNI grad last year I've seen quite a bit of MVC basketball and Miles is going to be a very good player...but I understand if off the court problems will be an issue. If we get him Ill be happy if we dont I like Gibbs too.

The problem with Miles is that I think he can be a good player and a redshirt year will do nothing but help him. The thing is that he probably wants to make a decision before Gibbs does and the staff (and fans) probably wants Gibbs more than Miles.

I wouldn't mind having Miles on the team, I think he's going to be a quality player.
