Wait, you mean Iowa does care about this game?? Don't say that too loud, you wouldn't want to the Hok fans to hear that
I was watching Channel 13 this morning and even they called the the game Iowa's Superbowl. (Even though there were referring to the game as the superbowl of Iowa teams, I tend to look at it the other way).

Mr. Bruns has a unique and relevant perspective on Cyclone football. His knowledge and analysis are very impressive and informational. I especially enjoyed the compare/contrast of the hawks two runningbacks and their affect on ISU's defense. Ben's on-air presence during games is equal to his thoughtful writing. I am always left wanting more.

Kudos to Bruns for writing a column that dealt with the nuts and bolts of football strategy, but didn't read like a boring thesis on football strategy. Don't see that very often.

I wish ESPN had guys that could analyze the game like this. Great job Ben! Good work Chris too on adding this piece.

Wow...that was a great article. I actually learned something about football. I would like to see more of these type of things in the future. Actually explaining a gameplan...rather than saying "not so fast, X team has great heart and is gritty!"
Really really good stuff, would love to see that kind of analysis more often.

Re: Inside the Game: Ben Bruns review of NIU and look ahead to Iowa
I liked the article, the defensive issues he discussed were very insightful. I liked the last paragraph too. It certainly doesn't apply to all Hawk fans, but there is a pretty good chunk of arrogant, idiotic Hawk fans that think their team it immeasurable better than Iowa State and when they loose it is because of bad luck or being flat (whatever that is) or not caring about the game, or my favorite, that the ISU coaches and player can somehow perform at a super human level, just because it is the Iowa game. The best thing about beating Iowa is that it almost humbles their fans for a while. Other than that it is just another game.

Sports journalism is people who can't write interviewing people who can't talk for people who can't read.
