why AA needs to go

Pretty obvious that none of you are athletes. Not every day is a good day. AA did not play very well yesterday. Newsflash. Neither did anyone else either. The front four of Iowa put pressure on him all day. A-Rob didn't play well either. Dropped a pass or two that should have been caught and would have changed things.

Hell, you guys act like Michael Jordan never ever had an off day. It happens. And Iowa had a lot to do with it. Iowa played an exceptional game. Kudos to them. Now we need to put this behind us and move on.


But all you dipsticks want to dwell on a single loss and let it affect the rest of the season. Forget about it and move on. And enough of this BS that AA needs to go. The only ones that need to go are you dipsticks. Hasta la vista.

After a 28-0 drubbing at halftime, we found that we could not run the ball effectively. So we tried to pass and threw three straight interceptions. Finally we scored against the third string. Some people would have thought Tiller would have come in for a series,. That is how other teams do it. I do not think JT is that far behind AA in the passing game, I think CPR has a pysche situation going on with his qb. Unfortunately, he still does. Not sure how CPR gets out of this hole.

I also see that ARob is in better shape this year but has only 135 yards rushing including a 63 yard dash. I think that tells us the oline is going to limit AA rushing ability this year unless they get better fast. If they do not, we will be throwing a lot more. And you know what that means. 20 points a game with victory depending mostly on the defense and the linebackers. Hoped to see improvement over last year but it looks like a tougher schedule from here on out (play nine teams in 2011) that the project may take longer than we thought.

Good post. You're right, its not about hating AA or just wanting him benched. We had absolutely NOTHING going, how could it have hurt to see what Tiller could do that day. You also risk making a fragile situation worse by leavine AA out there. Austen is our starter, and the best QB we have but leaving him out there in a no win situation doesn't help him or this program.

you're right about his lack of production so far but sadly so many of his carries come on read plays that he also depends greatly on the reads AA makes in order for him to get his yards. If AA makes good reads, Arob gets nice runs and vice versa.

I just watched the replay because I only got to see the first half live because of a wedding. Austin looked rattled the entire game! I really believe after our first offensive series the game was over.
We went 3 and out, but we should've had a huge play on 3rd down when ARob dropped the pass. (I think Austin might have thrown it a little to hard but should have been caught in my opinion) There was nobody in the middle of the field and he could have run forever.

I was shocked to hear the announcers say that Darks touchdown was on the "first" WR screen of the game? Why did we not run more of them? That play is a HUGE part of this offense and we didn't run it?
Austin missed atleast 10 throws that he should have made. They were either at the receivers feet, behind them, or way over their heads! And I don't agree with the fact he had no time to throw either. Yes, they have a great line but there was plenty of time to throw the ball to where the receivers could atleast have a chance to catch it!

I'm sorry this is so long but a 5th year QB should be making these throws! That game should have NEVER been as bad as it was! :skeptical:

Probably because we only ran a few plays in the first half...

Correct. Anyone that watches the replay of that game will notice that AA had more than enough time... on most occasions. That is a total cop out by the AA lovers IMO. Iowa has the best Dline in the country probably. Knowing that going in, we knew he wasn't going to have all day to throw the ball. But for the most part, he had enough time. That is a lame excuse.

I think the 3rd down you're talking about took the life out of AA, he seemed out fo it the rest of the day. I know one play doesn't make a game but that play seemed to set the tone for a lackluster day by the entire offense.

Austin is very emotional player and it shows with his performance on the field. Do I believe he can run this offense? Yes I do! But he needs to start letting things go. He played an excellent first half against Northern Illinois, but once he threw the interception at the end of the first half he did not play the same!
We should have scored a couple times against Iowa yesterday. We moved the ball the second half but 3 interceptions (all inside the 20) stopped the drives!

I didnt read through this thread, However I know a few players on the Hawks defense that were on the field this weekend, they... "just have the kid figured out", "he looks to the sideline for the play and then looks towards; locks onto the wr he intends to throw it too, and rarely checks down or looks elsewhere" They felt like they always knew where the ball was going, or at least the area it was headed. Austen is a good guy, but this is frustrating for a senior to still have such habits, He will rebound and we will be fine, but he needs to sharpen up reads and scratch the lock on, stare tendencies.

He would be a much better running back as passing is not his forte. He is similar to Phillip Bates. A great athlete, but not a passer.

Since he cannot loft the ball into the receivers hands, he must brute force his throws over the middle which is his downfall. Four interceptions will only be allowable if he had more TD passes.

What has been our longest passing play in three years? 42 yards to Hamilton?

AA still gives us the best chance to win sadly enough.

I really hate these stupid threads. Sorry, but I trust a coach with multiple years of experience before I trust stupid fans who MAYBE played high school football. I trust Rhoads to know who the starter should be.

The discussion may be more about should AA play every play in the whole game. Last year it almost blew up in our face when we had a newbie backfield against Nebby.

If JT ever comes into play, he may have huge pressure on his shoulders to make it big right off the back.

It seemed like 70% of the passes yesterday were in a bad spot or did not allow the receiver to do much. Franklin and Sedrick looked like they were swatting at flies.

So the quick passes to the sides were needed but were not called. We continued to play into Iowa's hands. If they had the best front four in America why give them a chance to at all. Just dump it off.
