Why is everyone so shocked that we lost so badly? I admit that I thought it'd be closer but come on, take the jerseys off of Iowa and replace them with another top 10 team and would you be so shocked we got shellacked on the road?
Iowa is legit this season and is playing better early in the season than I can ever remember. Sure it sucks to get pounded by your rival but try being realistic about this. Clones can still have a good season.
I totally agree, and was just thinking about posting something similar. Iowa is a legitimate top 5 team this year - everything has come together for them this year. Had this game occured in Austin or Norman, we'd all be saying "Well let's just get to next week." The tremendous douchebaggery of the Hawkeye fanbase has blinded a lot of people to the fact that we're still not that good, and this year they are very good. In the grand scheme of things, whether by 3 points or 30, it's just one loss. I still think we can find 5 more wins somewhere and get to a bowl game.
"No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman
It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element.
You're right but even still how does that help us when still have to go Norman and Austin? All we've shown so far is that we don't belong on the field with teams of that quality, and the sad thing is yesterday could have been much worse. Obviously we still have 10 games left and a bowl game is not out the question but I think many people around here (not saying they were right or I'm one of those people) thougth that CPR has this program in a position to compete in games like this. But the most positive thing about this loss is that we still have a couple really nice opportunities for big wins that could turn this season around. It will be a good test for this team and coaching staff to see just how far things have come. Are we the type of team who's going to let a loss like this ruin our year or like last year can we rebound and still take something positive away.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan.
