I am SAM
With yestedays injury to Tau'fo'ou, Klein has made the move to MLB(a better fit IMO). This opens up the SAM spot, which Rhoads said will be filled by an open competition. So who wins it? Give opinions with some justification guys. I am going with George. I hate to see a redshirt go, but I believe he is better than Morton and Kaufman, and already has better size than a safety convert like Washington. The new motto can be "Next year's LB core, today!". What do you think?

Why didnt George go in as soon as Matt T went down? Did CPR ever say anything about it after the game?

It's possible that during the game, CPR did not know the extent to Matt T injury. If he would have put George in right when Matt went down, it may have just been for that one game and Matt would have been ready to line up next week.

Re: I am SAM
my guess is it will be Matt Morton, but with Benton back, he'll play as a nickelback for most of the defense package. We went with that for majority of NIU game.
FYI, the redshirt on George is already off, he played on special teams yesterday-extra point defense unit! Must not be ready to get snaps at LB yet.

Do you know this for a fact? Was just wondering because my brother thought he saw George on an extra point but my dad went to the game and said he saw George standing on the sideline? -

Blast! I need to pay more attention, but I was stalking about my house after each Iowa score.
Alright, I wil update my pick and go way outside the box and say that Grant Stonerook gets a boost of energy from his athletic lineage and becomes our next Jesse Smith success story. He already has great size, and he looks like Jake Knott. That should help, right?
On a side note, why did Kevin Hamlin get no bigger during his reshirt year? He is still listed at under 200 pounds. Is his frame so narrow that he can't carry the weight?

I was kind of hoping for a red-shirt year but now I hope to see him on the field soon. Wonder why he didn't get any snaps yesterday? Im also glad Washington got some playing time...I think he will be a good player as he gets older.

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Re: I am SAM
One thing is for sure, we need more size and speed at LB. Being both slow and small is not a good combination.

Re: I am SAM
What about Lattimer? Didn't he switch to the D-Line during Fall camp?
