Sims and Johnson
Chris -
Curious if there were any further questions to or comments from the staff regarding the on field incident from Saturday. Although I thought it reflected poorly on the two players and the D as a whole, I just chalked it up to "heat of the moment". At least I hope that was all there was to the exchange and nothing more to it.
Maybe I missed what happened, but from what I saw, I couldn't understand why LJ seemed po'd at Sims.

Re: Sims and Johnson
LJ thought sims had over the top coverage. Sims was up for run support. Blown coverage. That is why he was mad. It looked like they shook it off later in the game and gave each other a fist bump.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Both were beaten like a rug during the game. Im sure they were both frustrated.

Re: Sims and Johnson
I think Reeves is a better corner then LJ.

Even my little sister knows you have to blitz Iowa if you are ISU.

Re: Sims and Johnson
I was at the Jacobson Building all morning. Other than a conversation that I had with a few other writers, this topic was never discussed. I think it was a frustration thing that won't be an issue as the season rolls along.

Re: Sims and Johnson
Not an uncommon occurence on the field for any team. Just happened to be a camera on these guys when it happened.
Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating. -

I thought for awhile we were watching the Walden years when we were on D. Playing 10 yards off each guy, letting the TE run free. It was not good at times. I agree with the blitzing...needed to do more of that. But our young LB core is going to take some hits this season, that is why LJ and crew need to step it up.
Don't think that Simms should of sit another game, we needed him out there. He made some good tackles and he made some poor plays as well. He will be better this weekend against the Cats.

LJ got beat bad by McNutt on the crossing pattern. He gave McNutt the inside and was trailing the rest of the time. Otherwise the time he was beat was Sims fault. Sims got caught playing the run and was beat bad.
